People need to make a conscious effort to change their relationship with food. Food is not entertainment. Food is not a means to treat depression. Food is not a cure for boredom. Food is for nutrition and sustenance.

It is very easy for me to avoid all non-carnivore foods. All I have to do is remind myself how those foods made me fat and bloated! Done. It is a choice that we can make every day and every time that we eat. My local grocery store is set up where I have to walk through the carb-infused fruits, gmo veggies and oxalate plants to get to the 🥩. I just keep walking past it and know that my choice of just 🥩 is far superior and more proper for my human self. Not putting that on my menu any more. 🤣 I have no regrets for being on a 🥩 Carnivore MENU (I do not use diet because the first 3 letters are DIE) now for over a year. Thank you for your content and that you are significantly helping people. 🤗 (January 17, 2025)

I’ve had at least 1,000 start days. I watched a video that said 21 days seems to be “magical” - start feeling good and cravings are gone or manageable. I decided to set my goals as follows: 21/30/60/90 days. Today (end of day) will be day 21, and I can attest to the 21-day “magic.” (This is coming from someone who hasn’t been able to stay on track during 3 years of attempting). I have chronic fatigue - now feeling a little energy. Brain fog has begun to lift. Most notably, cravings are reduced to more of a thought or desire; not that unbearable physical cravings. I’m encouraged to keep going and stay committed now. It was definitely worth the effort to push through the 21 days (and it was rough). I hope this help someone who may be struggling to stay on track. I eat BBBE (light in the bacon) and and occasional pickled jalapeño. Salt ONLY for seasoning. (No cheese after my 2nd week).

@@hugostheboss I bought a new 22 cubic foot freezer and it is filled with beef and lamb mostly. I still have shrimp and pork ribs. All I have to do is pull something, set it in the sink and in an hour or so it is ready to cook. I still have a long ways to go on the Carnivore diet but I too am feeling better every day.

Great video!! People often confuse their craving with actual hunger. In order to feel actual hunger one has to cleanse of sugars in all their forms. Once on carnivore everything naturally falls into place. Hard to explain until it becomes a personal experience.

The carnivore lifestyle is second nature for me so I appreciate you and others who have enlightened me to the struggles of others. Your dad's experience is so important. Getting sick of a food because of toxic compounds explains a lot. My problem is I get no signals from my taste receptors that would slow down my meals. I tend to eat until I cannot swallow and have to spit some of it up. I never use any spices, and as you said I never get sick of meat and eggs. You are like me, disgusted on non carnivore foods. Thanks Max for articulating things I have known instinctively.

Good advice Max. I started a very clean carnivore diet on the 1st January eating BBBE and drinking only water. Within ten days my results were fantastic and I felt better than I have in years! Then I decided to add just a little low-carb veg for some variety. Nothing much - some garlic, onions, chilies and the like. Next thing I knew I was having the occasional diet cola and eating cheese and yogurt. And now my energy levels are not what they were when I was strict. Although my diet is still super-healthy by carnivore standards you made me realize just how sensitive I am to this stuff and motivated me to get back on track. Thank you!

Thank you Max! This is REALLY solid information, which I can confirm given my experience of the last few years. I really appreciate your upbeat & informative videos! - Peter I was 334 lbs (at 5'11") in 2017, and lost 70 lbs eating clean Keto, fasting, and increasing movement. But then I stalled for 5 years, yo yo-ing around my new "healthier" weight of 265. This stall was entirely due to trying to replicate my former Standard American Diet using Keto-friendly alternatives, and thus keeping my desire for those foods active. I now realize my issue has little to do with food, and everything to do with using food to scratch psychological impulses. I'm now eating Carnivore since mid-November (and strictly Lion since January 1st). It is extremely simple to do. I am always completely satisfied, even during fasting, am losing weight handily, and feel SO MUCH BETTER. My goal is not to lose weight per se, but rather to improve my Metabolic Health. Check Ingredients: Many processed foods that appear to be carnivore-friendly, such as beef patties, bacon, and beef jerky, contain non-carnivore ingredients. It's crucial to check labels to ensure you're eating only clean carnivore foods to see the results you're after. Commit to a Time Period: The most important factor for success on the carnivore diet is consistency. Set a goal for a specific time period (e.g., 30, 50, or 90 days) and stick to it completely. This allows time for healing and getting in shape. Cut Out Spices: If you find yourself getting tired of eating meat, it's likely due to spices. The defense compounds in spices can accumulate and make the meat taste worse over time. Try going a couple of weeks without spices. Identify Your "Why": Clearly define your reasons for following the carnivore diet, such as wanting to feel and look your best, or avoiding chronic disease. Write it down and put it somewhere visible, like on the fridge. This helps you stay on track when tempted by non-carnivore foods. Avoid Sweet Carnivore Foods: Cravings are often triggered by dopamine release from sweet or tasty foods. If you're experiencing cravings, avoid sweet carnivore foods like milk or yogurt for at least two weeks. This will help your brain forget how much pleasure it got from sweet tastes. Increase Fat Intake: Many people don't consume enough fat on the carnivore diet because of a fear of fat stemming from misinformation. Fat is your fuel source on a carnivore diet. You need at least 1 gram of fat per pound of ideal body weight. To get enough fat, try having it cold, mixed in with ground beef, or adding butter. Eat Ruminant Meat: Ruminant meat, such as beef and lamb, is more nutrient-dense and has less of the inflammatory omega-6 fatty acids compared to monogastric animals like chicken and pigs. However, it is also important to eat the type of meat you enjoy the most to ensure consistency on the diet. Don't Commit Forever: Instead of saying you will be on the carnivore diet forever, commit to a set time period such as 30, 50, or 90 days. After this time you can reevaluate your eating choices, but most people who stick to the diet long enough don't want to stop. Don't Compare Results: Everyone's body responds differently to the carnivore diet. Some people, especially those who did not eat much meat previously, might experience initial weight gain as their body is replenishing nutrients, while others may see rapid results. It's important to give the diet sufficient time to work. Understand the Diet: The carnivore diet is the proper human diet, and you should not have doubts about whether or not it is right for you.

One thing all these videos never hit on, and that is when you have an addiction to sugar, carbs, or anything, the best way to get over that addiction is to not have those things around. Handling cravings starts with the grocery store and if you bring the garbage home, then it's going to sit there and you feel too much pressure because it's just a couple of steps away. also, if it's not in your house, with every craving, it will go away after a few minutes. During that time, you will be fixing your steak, and after you eat that steak, you will be thankful that you waited because now you don't have those cravings. Cravings usually only last about 10 minutes so during that 10 minute craving, fill it up with meat.

I have carbs in the house for the kids, but nothing that is a temptor for me. I do have some beer in the basement (i.e. it takes effort to go get it and cool it down, so there's a small barrier) for when I choose to have a beer. Whenever I get a hankering for something carby or a beer (when I don't want to choose to have one), I have Alexa set a 5 min timer and think, "I re-evaluate in 5 min." Either the desire has gone away, or rarely I'll set the timer again. Works like champ with any other thing I shouldn't be doing, too. Also works for doing things I need to get accomplished. I think I'll only do it for five min and then I can stop. But once you have momentum....

More fat! I had been eating strict carnivore for a couple of months before I got a meal planner app and discovered that I wasn’t eating nearly enough fat. I started the carnivore diet at a low body weight, so I didn’t have any fat reserves after the first week. My symptoms got pretty brutal, but I thought it was just my body adapting to the diet and oxalate dumping. I’ve finally started thriving on carnivore after significantly increasing my fat intake.

Well said Max. I'm wondering what's your stance on alcohol and the carnivore diet? I have been eating mostly meat, eggs, and butter for over 6 months but I still enjoy a low-carb beer and a glass or two of red wine. I've lost 40kg's over the last 12 months, having started out on the Healthpoint diet, which is mainly about lowering the carb intake.

One of the comments I have on the fat issue, Max, is that IMHO, how much fat we add to our diet depends on where we are in our carnivore journey. The phrase "cut the carbohydrtaes, prioritize protein and fill with fat' descibes this. I agree that if you are in maintenance, then you need to fill out your diet with extra fat. However, if you're trying to lose weight, the whole point is to get that fat from your adipose fat stores. Every gram of fat you add to your meal, is one less gram your remove from your adipose tissue. Eg. I have slowly added about 4 lb. over the last couple of years, having heavy cream in my coffee, and eating 3-4 tbsp of butter with my steak. On Jan 1, I cut out the cream and the butter, and now, 4 weeks later, I've lost 5 lb! I think people keep forgetting this simple concept.

There are actually two types of cravings. One type is a bliss point or drug style craving. These are created by actions of your brain where when you eat something that causes dopamine to be released, the dopamine hit will reinforces the craving and you will eventually form an addiction. Sugar acts like this. Sugar acts like a drug and when you eat it, dopamine is released into your blood and over time, you will develop a mild addiction to high sugar foods. If you are constantly in a food coma and are overweight, you are probably addicted to sugar (which includes breads). Caffeine also acts like a drug. Ever notice that once you are addicted to caffeine, it is incredibly difficult to stop drinking it. Apparently, the food industry adds caffeine to a lot of foods for this very reason. The second type of craving is a craving that you get from deficiencies in vitamins and minerals. When your body is deficient in a particular vitamin or mineral, your body craves foods that have this vitamin or mineral in them until the deficiency of that nutrient is satiated. Once satiated, a nutrient craving will shut down and if you eat too much of the nutrient, your body will make the foods with that vitamin or mineral taste bad so you will stop eating it. This is how you know the difference between a drug and a nutrient. A drug will make you addicted to it, while a nutrient will only create a temporary craving until the nutrient deficiency is remedied. Salt acts like a nutrient. If you exercise a lot and sweat salt out of your body, you will start to crave salt. Where people go wrong, is they get the salt by eating a bag of potato chips or other processed snacks. Instead, just put salt on healthy foods such a grass fed beef or drink a glass of salt water. When your body's need for salt is reached, you will start to detest salt and will not want to eat it for a while.

I get to experience the awful taste and the negative feelings that come with it, which in turn leaves a mental reminder of what to avoid at all costs. Eventually it will be all commercial products. Yeah. It bugs the hell out of me when foreigners come to the US and just go on and on about how varied, unique and delicious our food is. And how undisappointed they are that we don't have blood sausage, which sounds much weirder than maple syrups encrusted bacon which is, in fact, awesome. Blood sausage (in Korea) was fine, too. That being said, I've never seen bacon with more than a gram of sugar in it (it's typically .5 or less). I believe the carnivore docs have said it is used in curing and there's none left worth worrying about. Though, as with most carnivore doc info, I don't know if this is a fact. Either way, I don't worry about it.
