GAMDZANI, GEORGIA - Today we’re in Samtskhe-Javakheti southern region of Georgia, an area where Georgia, Armenia, and Turkey all come together. We’re meeting up with the nicest Armenian family who are preparing for us a huge Armenian feast - a barbecue on the picturesque side of the lake. You don’t want to miss any of the food, let’s start eating!
A huge thank you Kristo from Culinary Backstreets culinarybackstreets.com/ for taking me on this food tour today. They offer tours in cities around the world and if you use my code “migrationology10” you can get a discount on booking food tours.
So it was a couple of hours drive from Tbilisi, and it’s a totally different setting in Samtskhe-Javakheti. The mountains are gorgeous and green and the lifestyle is more relaxed with plenty of space. The specific village we visited was called Gamdzani and it’s mainly an Armenian village. Kristo had known this family and they run a restaurant and lodge called Family Corner (goo.gl/maps/gj73JxyuSK3zfE6b7). It’s truly a one of a kind mountain lodge where you can stay and eat family cooked Armenian food in Georgia. But instead of eating at the restaurant, they took the bbq and all the ingredients to the lake where they set up a huge lakeside Armenian bbq. There was over 13 types of kebabs and so many other side dishes as well, including dolma!
It was a meal and a setting in nature that I’ll never forget.
Again, thank you to Kristo and Culinary Backstreets for arranging - culinarybackstreets.com/ (code: migrationology10)

So I live in the UK and a Georgian family has just moved in next door and I've made friends with the son and I can say first hand that they are the most hospitable people you could ever wish to meet. The way they welcome you to their dinner table is unlike any other culture I've experienced. And the food is unreal , it really is amazing the way they cook and season meats.

The cooker Samuel is a humble and kind man. Not a lot of people express themselves well with compassion and genuine feelings and thoughts. You can feel that he truly is happy and appreciate Mark’s kind thoughts to visit this beautiful place. Language barrier shouldn’t keep us people from enjoying life while we are still here in this planet. I wish even without understanding each other’s language that people could help and company one another without judging someone for who they are…. This is one of the most beautiful episodes I have ever seen from Mark. Wishing everyone in this video the greatest health and a bright future. Love you all. ❤❤❤❤

@@luntiangrace He probably doesn’t go to school but his parents must be educating him with school supplies while travelling. I follow a family of 5 on Instagram who’ve been travelling around the world while also schooling them and when they have Wi-Fi they get their kids to do online classes on the laptops or iPads, the kids are between the age 7 and 15 years old but it works for them and has befitted the children mentally. Also the children seem to be very academically advanced compared to other children their age so just do research and hopefully everything works out for you.
