This is our take on "The Carol of the Bells", a.k.a. "Ring Christmas Bells", a popular Christmas carol from 1914 with music from the Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych and based on a Ukrainian folk song. I have always thought this piece is kind of creepy and proper of a Tim Burton type of approach to Christmas (think "The Nightmare Before Christmas"). Warner Bros. seems to agree with me since they used the song as the Joker's theme in Arkham Origins. The music is public domain.
The song is also very particular in that it's "poly-rhythmic", which means it has different time signatures going on at the same time. It does not merely change the rhythm at some point in the middle, which many songs do, but it actually has elements in two different rhythms (3/4 and 6/8 in this case) happening simultaneously.
My daughter and I recorded the voices. For my voice I used a TC Helicon Harmony G-XT to layer harmonies mostly towards the bottom end.
Hope you like the take, and Merry Christmas.
