What a performance. Singers who combine this level of taste and musicality with voices this naturally rich and pleasing are...well, saying such singers are rare is putting it mildly. She's in the upper atmosphere orbiting with Shirley Horn when it comes to smokey late-night jazz ballads.

03.23.22: I'd first learned of Ms. Sloane's artistry was in '88 while stationed on a remote site in Karatas, Turkey; and, it was her phrasing, tone, and coolest that won me over . . . since then, I have tried to purchase every CDs my budget could afford; I had the pleasure of seeing her at the Vanguard, and pre-Covid at BIRDLAND's . . . I have a photo with her at Birdland's that I would cherish . . . always! & to top it all off . . . in person Ms. Sloane is charming and has a gentle spirit . . . .
