As someone who believes everything should be looked at from an objective point of view, I see two facts regarding the situation with Selena and Yolanda: 1. Selena agreed to meet with Yolanda at the hotel, especially after discovering that Yolanda had been stealing from her. 2. Yolanda definitely shot Selena because she was obsessed with her. Getting fired was essentially a death sentence for her, so there is a clear motive for her actions. These are two factual statements, but they do not change the tragic outcome. It’s worth considering that if Selena had never agreed to meet with Yolanda, this may have never happened. Given the personality traits I’ve heard she had, it seems her overextension of grace and empathy may have overshadowed her judgment. She was being stolen from right in front of her eyes, and she didn’t even notice. This demonstrates that as bright as she was, Selena was just like anyone else. We can’t be the talent, bookkeeper, shopkeeper, and designer all at once. Even if we love all those things, it’s essential to focus on ourselves and hire the right people. Yolanda should not receive probation. She took advantage of a young woman’s money, assets, fans, music, and deals. Furthermore, she premeditatedly killed Selena and has shown no remorse for her actions. Had Yolanda admitted to the crime and expressed genuine sorrow, it might have warranted a more lenient sentence, such as parole in 2030 or a lighter sentence allowing her to spend weekends outside of prison. But the fact remains that she must be held accountable for what she did.

Sometimes I wonder if it had nothing to do with jealousy and obsession. I wonder if it was more to do with money. She was stealing money from Selena. Selena was starting to really blow up ever more in the music industry because she was crossing over to the English market and that meant that everyone on Selena’s team was going to start making top dollar aswell. Then, she gets caught stealing money and gets fired. I believe that Selena was her meal ticket and she was not about to let that go very easily. When it comes to money, these celebrities come across all kinds of money hungry ppl that would stop at nothing to steal from them. Money attracts evil.

Absolutely, unfortunately sometimes as humans we tend to only view things in black and white…particularly when situations require nuance to be considered fully. It is possible for the truth and a lie, accurate and misleading information to be presented or coexist in a factual manner. 2 things can be true at once. Psychopaths are very, VERY good at preying on the weakness of others because they understand how manipulation works - a crumb of truth is enough to give them the benefit of the doubt. Also why narcissists are very selective with their victims as their biggest fear is encountering someone who can see through their tactics and won’t entertain them / and will ALSO forewarn others so the wool isn’t so readily pulled over their eyes. This is so well said and needs to be acknowledged more often.

I think this killer murdered Selena because she went to Abraham with the idea of a fan club. When she got accepted, she began her crookedness. The sad thing is, even if Yolanda needed money or wanted something, Selena was so kind, she probably would have given her anything if she'd just asked. I will never believe Yolanda, though I believe Selena's father is indirectly involved in it somewhere. But I don't understand her logic, steal money, confess, and do a little bit of prison time or just get another job, vs. kill the person and try to cover your tracks and spend life in prison. Why wouldn't you just be honest? They should have taken it to the police, there should not have been a meeting on March 9th either, I feel like she felt threatened because of Abraham and the confrontation. They had the evidence they needed, should have just went to the police.
