This was a really fabulous makeover. You gave a lot of excellent suggestions and tips. Being in the design space myself, I would like to suggest lowering the art over the sofa. It should be about 6 to 8 inches above the back. Your sister has a wonderful sense of color. I love the blue with the contrasting orange chair and the burgundy club chair. Very nice eclectic space. Well done.😊

This weekend, i followed your advice and cleared out the whole living room and by the end of that, I was too exhausted to move to the next step. The room is empty, so I could not watch Netflix for two evenings in a row, which meant that I finally went to my bedroom early and slept before 10pm. Life changing! I might keep it like this for a while. 😂 My conclusion: a too cozy living room would keep me entertained, awake and snacking for the whole night.

I love the freedom you give people to be maximalist and eclectic. So much of this space is beige and minimal. 10 piece capsule wardrobes where blush is considered a “pop” of colour. Bare counters with a single concrete vase holding one twig. It’s lovely for some, but the rest of us have stuff and ephemera. This room embraces your sister’s quirks and habits and helps her stay true to her.

As someone who has lived in their fair share of fan and museum district apartments, it’s so inspiring to see someone switch up the layout of this room/space because there are 273683 apartments in Richmond with this same layout. EVERYONE puts the sofa on the wall where it was originally because it otherwise feels like you block the porch/stoop door. You can’t live in Richmond without porching/stooping, so everyone feels the need to keep that walkway open. But this shows you can do something else and the world keeps on turning. Porch access still totally realistic. By redoing one apartment, you’ve shown a zillion other rva renters how they can reimagine the same space. Also bears mentioning that only true love could motivate you to drive the hellstrip that is 95 between Richmond and dc. Slam dunk video as always!

First, fluffing and rotating pillows are perfection. I fluff daily to refresh my rooms. The small table is genius, others sometimes don't see it but let's be honest, new ideas always take a while to accept. The best advice is to keep things where you use them, just make them look pretty when you do. That encourages us to put things away to keep it looking great AND it is easy!!

Excellent tips and the apartment looks fabulous without spending any money! I loved that Caroline stuffed the droopy slipcover on the chair. As a fellow diabetic, my tip to Julia on corralling used diabetic test strips and needles is to collect a few cute vintage ceramic vases and keep them near where you typically do your testing. When the vase fills up you can dump the contents in a "sharps box" as medical waste.

Had a happy accident this morning when I clicked on "my new favorite channel". Three gorgeous girls having fun making over this beautiful space without spending any money on generic box store goods that make every apartment look like it was bought in one trip to the store. Your room says love. It's full of personal items that have some meaning to you. You did a terrific job of taking this room to it's highest potential. It's completely warm, inviting, interesting and delightful. Just like you three. I have never heard so many spoken words in such a short time. Wow ! Tip .... Place a strip of foam in the crevice when you have an unruly slip cover, it will keep it firmly in place. One small critic..... I was thrilled with how you hung the artwork in the nook. Artwork should always be hung with relevance to the surrounding furniture and you did a great job.(So many people hang it at eye level, WHEN THEY ARE STANDING UP ^#@%) But then what happened ? ? You did just that over the sofa. HELP ! Those pictures need to come down at least four or maybe five inches. They look so disconnected from the sofa. ( Please forgive this tiny critic, it's just my number one decorating peeve and I couldn't help my self, I just HAD to say it. ) Thanks for a delightful half hour. I look forward to watching the rest of your channel and getting to know you better.

I have been so veherryyy obsessed with this series because this is what I have been doing with my mother's house! Basically reorganizing, re-layout-ing, reducing, refreshing...LOTS of deep cleaning. We are both on a budget, but the bigger challenge honestly is that I am currently sharing space with her, and this lady has a lotttt of stuff and is emotionally attached to much of it (to be fair, many of her pieces are antiques or family heirlooms). So I have had to figure out how to make her space work for her in this age of her health /safety & retirement activities, while also not being able to get rid of/replace too much😅🤔😵💫and then also try to make myself feel comfortable in the remaining space I have for me😄Anyways, it's sooo helpful to see all your tips in action in these makeovers. It gives me hope we will get to a "finished" state over here, it's been a long process. But thankfully each stage has gone smoother and smoother. Thank you SO much again for these makeovers!

Taking your stuff out of its regular context can make it easier to declutter it or find a new home for it. As an artist who’s ADHD this video felt like it was made for me! 😂 I’m the big sister but otherwise. My little sister shared a room with me through childhood and what worked for her was opposite to what worked for me. She gets overwhelmed when things are out. And I can’t find anything when things are hidden. This felt like a good balance. I’m so into the idea of zones. (Keep stuff where it’s used then riding up is easy!) and taking how someone lives in a space and leaning into it. I’ve been working on that because I just moved into a new space and I feel like I’m finally getting somewhere functional with it. Anywho, good video. I enjoyed it a lot. I feel like if I had seen something like it at 13 years old it would have saved a lot of trouble. This is the first video I’ve seen of yours so I don’t know if this is your usual. But if it is, you’ve got a good talent and skill to look at a space, and come up with the best way to lay it out to serve the needs of your client. I think that you will be very successful and I wish you all the best.

My older sister and I are 9 years apart in age and we are super close, too. She’s been my hero for as long as I can remember. A good older sister is a gift to be cherished.

My older sibling is the one with ADHD and the line, "It's your life; you're not doing it wrong," was so perfect. After watching my sibling struggle with self worth for so long, this one little sentence is so meaningful. And at the end, in the photo where you're reading to Julia, my sibling and I have a photo of us just like it. I'm glad I called them today.

I love what you did to Julia's space. And, Julia is adorable. Your entire family is interesting and unique. All of you are characters!

Julie is THE mood. What a legend. I’ve been drowning trying to get my house organized after a move, and this inspired me to keep going. You’re a great big sis and your videos are so fun to watch! As someone with three great older sisters myself, I loved the sweet sibling energy in this vid.

Thank you so much for this! As a fellow ADHDer, I am coming to the realization that I need to have specific homes for everything I own with no ambiguity about where something should go. This is a good reminder that storage can be cute AND functional. Also, have you ever had the experience of seeing someone in a video/photo who kind of looks like you and been creeped out for a second? I look vaguely similar to Julia (not a dead ringer, but close enough at a glance) and had the same haircut about 10 years ago and this video mildly gave me the heebie jeebies.

I love this clip for so many reasons. I love the fact that you rearranged her space with what she had and let it work with how she funcations day to day. Great job!! Very inspirational!! And I also love the sisterly family dynamic.🥰

I am such a fan of color and Julia’s place was already incredible. You just bumped it up a few notches, and the corner nook has the warmest vibe. I love it!

The way u talk about adhd makes me so happy. Feeling shamed for it all my life, your assertive positive attitude on it was so nice to hear. Time to declutter and rearrange my living room now 😂

The random q-tip on the floor is so real, I've definitely been there. I still don't quite know how it happened but sometime in the last 10 years I became 'tidy', but, like, before my mid-30s? Absolutely not, ha. Big props to your sister for signing up to be honest (in a visual and verbal sense both) on camera, it's so very relatable :)

No no on that small shelf table! Agree with sister! Dogs gonna knock that over or someone gonna trip over is for sure! Maybe a small foot stool? Something that has some weight to it

This is such a good concept. A $0 makeover that is actually $0. I love the critical look at what will be functional to live with. Brilliant and realistic! Great job Caroline!

Also that tip to sit in the main area (reading nook) to visualize and repeatedly test the accessibility and usability was brilliant. I love that you made changes multiple times so we don't all feel like we need to get it right the first time.

I’m ADHD, as is my daughter, it’s so nice to see these accommodations. The room turned out beautifully. She did a pretty great job on her own, but like she said you brought it although cohesively, and made great use of the nook. Yes!! Gotta love a good nook!!

If I could give this a thousand likes I would. My Dad’s funeral is tomorrow and I’m so very aware of how much I love my sisters right now. This just makes me cry. You and your family seem wonderfully tightly knit like mine and you cherish it. It’s beautiful to watch. Also, great design Caroline!

Wow, wow, love everything about this video. You and your little sister remind me of my daughters. It’s such an incredibly sweet relationship to witness. Julia’s apartment “makeover” is truly a work of art. You keep surprising us with simplistic ideas that make such a big impact in a space. Well done!

Love the refresh. I live my life by the motto “clean as you go”. Living by this means I rarely have to do big/deep cleans. If I use something, it immediately gets put back. If I use a cup it immediately goes into the dishwasher (or cleaned and put back). Every single night I turn on the dishwasher and empty it in the morning while I make my morning cup of tea so it’s free to start the process the next day. If I see a little spill or splash I wipe it immediately. If I take off a jacket it gets put away. Because I know if I see something and think “I’ll do that later”, later never comes. So it avoids little build ups of things. It sounds Iike I’m doing a lot, but I really am not. I have severe chronic illness so I don’t have to energy for big cleans. Doing just a few little things each day saves me from getting overwhelmed by any mess as I am OCD and mess sends me into a spiral. I also keep things pretty minimalistic to avoid too much dust and clutter. I know this may not work for everyone (or for adhd people as not sure how that affects them) but it may help for my OCD people. Make the motto and mantra and it will gel into a habit before you know it 😊❤
