I had two massive spots pop up suddenly on my chin yesterday and tried your suggestion of acid and oil. I am completely amazed by the results! It’s been less than 24 hours since I started slathering on the oil, and one spot is completely gone and the other is about to come to a head. I suspect it will be gone by this evening. Thank you so much for all of your wonderful advice!

I am extremely dry. I have always taken my make-up off with baby oil. I also use a moisturizer that is high on mineral oil (Nivea blue tin). I have to, because it is the *best* at keeping moisture in the skin (and I've tried natural variants, it doesn't work). To each their own, I guess. I also use sweet almond oil. I'm 45, have been using that since I was 3 and our internist recommended it for my dry skin. I also use a hyaluronic acid underneath my moisturizer since about a few months. But, I do have to say, mineral oil is one of the best ingredients for me.

I follow Arabella s rec d using small amount of warm water to massage the cleansing oil before placing steaming flannel over my face for 15-30 seconds. Then I use the warm moist flannel to remove the oil and makeup, excess sebum etc. I’ve enjoyed both superseed and the apricot/geranium cleansing oils and rotate them back and forth. I don’t dry remove the oil as I find that way to irritating with less “slip” as the moist removal with steamy moist flannel. I like the flannels but I’d prefer they not be white, perhaps tea stained? Just a thought. I also use all 4 treatment oils Rose morac/sandalwood, jasmine/calendula & neroli/myrrh And night oil which I alternate with the above treatment oils. I love these products and although they are pricey they do last quite a long time when doled out in drops

Lovely video, thank you. One question, I have always had the impression that leaving any oil cleanse on the skin will mean following serums etc won’t be able to get through. I think it was Nadine. But are we (as you say here) saying that’s only mineral oil? Thanks so much.

Hi Caroline, how would you compare the Super Seed Facial Oil to the Vintner's Daughter? I already own the VD which is also really expensive, so don't want to waste money if the two oils are similar. Thank you!
@votaryskincare
@votaryskincare 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Elizabeth, Caroline is probably better placed to answer this question than I am as I haven't fully tested Vintner's Daughter. I have had a play with it in Liberty however and would say that VD has a lovely texture and it sinks into the skin beautifully but is perhaps slightly less hydrating? It also contains fragrance (and smells lovely) but if you're a little sensitive then Super Seed is a great choice because it's so nourishing yet gentle. Hope that helps a bit. Arabella x

Hello, I am not Caroline or Arabella (Votary co-founder) or April (VD founder). But I have both the oils and have been using for a long time. Votary Super Seed Facial Oil is completely essential oils free and has a seedy / cumin/ earthy / herbal fragrance to it; Unlike VD, which has a gorgeous smell because of the high essential oil content. Votary one is very nice, only 1/3rd the price of VD and is more hydrating than VD. I use them together sometimes, like 2 drops of VD and 2 drops of Votary. This way, (1) you shall get benefits from both (2) You can mask the earthy smell of Votary with the beautiful smell of VD (3) You can get away with using VD less and be more economical. ;) xoxo

Chanelgirl thank you so much!! I️ love the idea of mixing them, and also I️ can’t use the VD every day because my rosacea skin sometimes reacts to the essential oils, so the V by itself will also be great, I️ appreciate your advice! xo

Hi Caroline/Arabella! I have yet to try any Votary, but am excited to play. I have a question about the bottles. I’ve learned through Caroline about Miron glass bottles that are protective against UV rays-like the one used for the La Belle Lune oil. Are the Votary bottles similar in this way? Just curious...I for sure don’t care enough about the bottle to detract from buying anything housed in a typical glass container. Thanks!

Hello. I checked out the Votary oils some months ago and made my research about the ingredients because I have 49-year old blemish prone oily congested skin and try to take care of oils not to be to high on the comedogenic scale and check out the ratio of linoleic acid to oleic acid. My result was that the Superseed ingredients would be the best for me. But after your video I am not quite sure if it would be to rich for my skin type. I will definetly buy the Superseed cleanser next time I am in the UK, but am not sure about which oil to use afterwards. I would appreciate your suggestion.

Huge fan. Would love your recs for cleansing products (for 2018). I have dry-combo/mature/sensitive/reactive skin (It's all over the place but extremely clear). I avoid scent and essential oils (they make my skin angry). I don't want anything too active as I have them in other products. I am looking for something to remove my makep and another for a second cleanse. I've been trying out the the Marie Veronique/Kristina Holey EO Free Line. I won't say anything until you test it. Until then, would love your advice on products to try.

Hey, Caroline. Great video, as always. Is the hydroxypinacolone retinoate in the Intense Night Oil present in greater quantities than in the Indeed Labs Retinol Reface? And does that even matter? I know you say the latest thinking with retinols is that using them for a longer period of time in a less concentrated form will yield the same benefits. Cheers!

Hi Maddalena, it's very personal whether you use a cream on top or not. The important thing is to apply the oil first. Lots of our customers apply a cream on top and this can be very effective at providing a barrier for dry skin. Arabella x

We recommend oil first so that your skin gets that lovely dose of intense hydration the oils can offer. If you apply them over a cream then they won't penetrate and absorb as well. x

Aloha Caroline! How would you compare these to Vintner's Daughter? I currently use it, but recently have been experiencing some pretty harsh breakouts. Not sure if it's the oil, or that I'm doing too much P50/acids in general, or perhaps that I've been trying some new foundations. Anyway, I think the clarifying may be the way to go for me (for now) or the Super Seed. Just wondered how you would compare them and for what skin types. Mahalo and Aloha! XO

@hawaii5oh423
@hawaii5oh423 7 жыл бұрын
I do love the Vintner's Daughter and have seen a significant change in my skin, especially in terms of fine lines and hyper-pigmentation, as well as, overall suppleness. My skin is dehydrated, but not "dry".. at least I don't think it is....lol... (I've been using it since Caroline did her very first post on it, so over a year I believe). However, lately my skin has been back-talking me like crazy! I often find that my skin seems to "get tired" of a product if I don't switch it up from time to time (which I should be doing anyway based on my skins condition at the moment), but I get stuck in a rut and just use what has worked for me. I use the Original P50 1970, too and cannot go a day without it, which I'm sure is overkill..lol. I do alternate evening acids with Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic Acid Pads and Alpha Beta Extra Strength pads, though. I really do love VD, but am extremely intrigued by Votary, the Super Seed Serum and Clarifying lines in particular! Hopefully Lady Hirons will come to our rescue and share her thoughts with us on it! XO Aloha!

Mimi's Tiny Island Life thanks for replying 😊 I hope Votary or Lady Hirons would respond too. I love P50 1970 as well, gives me such a glow, but I've decreased application to every 2 to three days depending on my skin's behavior and other treatments I'm using. I think the retinol have also played a part on the dryness. I think I'm getting the Super Seed Facial Oil, but on the fence about the Blemish Rescue Oil since I currently have Sunday Riley's UFO. The generous discount is only til the 29th... Cheers 🍻

Darn, I'm so late to this post....Curious what you think about the Marie Veronique/Kristina Holley collab EO Free line, especially the cleanser (and the rest of the line). If you knew about the cleanser packaging, it def would have made your problematic packaging video. But for now, I'm curious about the cleaner. As someone who can't wear essential oils and avoids scents like the plague, this seemed like a good choice. But....I haven't a clue what to pair it with for second cleanse (though they say a second cleanse isn't needed). P.S. Shake it like a madwoman. P.S.S. Thanks for making me laugh. You always do. Love it.

I will eat my hat if these two products are good for sensitive/reactive/dry/acne-worried skin: Face Oil Jasmine and Calendula - suitable for sensitive, oil-prone, morning use under makeup - www.votary.co.uk/product/face-... Face Oil Rose Maroc and Sandalwood - suitable for dehydration and dull - www.votary.co.uk/product/face-...

Yikes! Great skincare sure is expensive. Took advantage of the Oskia offer as that wasn't to be sniffed at & now this Votary offer with a Zelens offer next week (be still my beating heart!!) Decisions, decisions, decisions!! Going to skip this offer & wait for Zelens, I really have to exercise some restraint otherwise the family will be eating all this skincare off toast for Christmas dinner! (Hubby will not be amused) As always, thanks for these offers which are so greatly appreciated by this skincare junkie :)

Hi Caroline/ Arabella just a quick one about the clarifying range, are the products safe to use in pregnancy? Another fab review and great to see more and more home grown brands on the scene! xXx

Hi Eleanor - the clarifying range does contain essential oils at low levels, (none of our face products contain essential oils above 2%), however we advise caution and to use Super Seed Facial Oil which is entirely fragrance free. Arabella x

Hi, thanks for the video, I took advantage of the EH and bought the cleanser (new packaging) :-) right... how do you feel about alternating Retin A with the Retinol Oil? I’ve found getting back to Retin A is quite irritating as I was off for the first time during the summer months.

Thank you for the review and the percent off! The Blemish Rescue Oil is in my cart but I'm waffling on which cleansing oil to try - what would you or Votary suggest for late 30s skin with hormonal spots (damn them) and resulting dark spots?

Also, is there a difference between the oils in a Cleansing Oil and a facial oil? The ingredients in the oil cleanser seem luscious just like in a facial oil....is it wrong to leave it on the skin as you would a facial oil? Or is there a difference between the 2 types of products? I’m not sure I’m asking this question eloquently, but I hope it makes sense.
@votaryskincare

Hello again! All our facial oils contain different blends of oils that make them suitable, or not, for different skin types. The main thing to highlight with out cleansing oils is that they contain jojoba oil which is strictly speaking actually a wax not an oil. It makes a brilliant cleanser but I wouldn't use it in a facial oil that you left on the skin. Hope that helps a bit. Do email sales@votary.co.uk if you need any further help. Arabella x

Hi Caroline! What’s the difference between the super seed oil and the Vitners Daughter serum?
@votaryskincare
@votaryskincare 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Steph - I attempted to answer this in another comment (I haven't fully tested VD but do know the product a little) - I think the short answer is that Super Seed is for dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin, because it is fragrance free and very nourishing. Vintner's Daughter is perhaps for more normal/combination skin. Arabella x
