I have struggled with being born and raised a Catholic ever since I found out about the abusive priests, the molestations that were covered up etc. I guess maybe all of that revolved around power and control in some way too. Free Speech thank you for your bravery in opening up about this. It is a point of grief and sadness for the Church & I too have been to that place whereby how could an all loving God let horrific things happen to people, happen to children? We know not the nature, or the why. We may never know the why, except to encourage and develop more love, more forgiveness. My resting place with theology & Faith is to consider whether atrocious acts occur & are designed to develop our ability to forgive deeper? The story of the resurrection is the story of the sun at winter solstice, “disappearing” and rising again after three days. The bible is full of astronomical significance, which was then changed to accommodate the church. Pagan celebration of spring was smothered in favour of the re-told story of the Sun/son rising from the “dead” after three days. In this way, the universe is teaching us metaphorically all the time. This becomes religion when humans try to control the narrative for political power. 🙏🏻
