it's a shame that most of the country artists that are the real deal don't get the recognition that they deserve. I agree Carolyn Dawn Johnson is the real deal, and yet she deserved more recognition then she got, she still got quite a bit of recognition but she deserved more though. I loved her music from the late late 90s to 2008-2010ish. I wish she would do more though

My mom and dad we’re together for ten years, but only married six. My sister and I were really young when they divorced, but I remember a lot of yelling and fights that broke out. My mom has left before and came back, but the final time she left I will never forget... we got to see her every other weekend and Wednesday and I remember my sister and I saying play the “Georgia song.” It wasn’t until I was i older that I realize the love and importance of this song and how it must have been uplifting for my mother. Beautiful song. FUN FACT: my mom ended up remarried to my amazing stepdad from Louisiana, I guess she made it all the way there and didn’t turn around

Surpasses?? Frick. Her vocal talent hasn’t even started to climb. Her voice is average. She’s a great writer but her voice killed her career. She should have kept handing her work to artists with unique vocals. Carolyn’s voice is very plain. Who cares she can hold a note. So can I. But I wouldn’t be trying to sell music with it. She thought she was better than she was. Her music would have went further if she wasn’t so delusional.

Carolyn is such a great talent, such a special voice. From what I heard the music execs tried to make her into something she's not. They should have let her be and do her thing, which was great. Sometimes talent doesn't need to be "managed" it just needs to be shared with the rest of the world as it is, pure, simple and unspoiled.

I like the song and I rarely get swayed by visuals but the empty wedding dress box and the discarding of the dress in the river embodies the pathos that is oftr=en in country songs but not always felt or realised by listeners. Carolyn you sing with emotion and that speaks volumes. Your x factor is a bonus for those of us who have vision and age is irrelevant. I love what you are doing and how you present. x o

If I'm not over you by the time I get to Georgia Then I guess I'll be Alabama bound There was a time when I'd do anything for ya But this time baby, I won't turn around I always wanted to get married, and I thought you were the one But you never ever asked me and I was tired of hanging on You know a girl can only be let down so many times before she runs And now this little bitty town's only got room for one of us You always said I'd never leave and if I did I wouldn't go far So I know how I must look with my tank o' gas and beat up heart Baby I'm gone for good, you can count on that I'm gonna keep heading west ?til I'm too far gone to come back Yeah And if I'm not over you, by the time I get to Georgia Then I'll be Alabama bound There was a time I'd do anything for ya But this time baby, I won't turn around I only got ten miles to go before I cross the state line I can feel my hands shaking, ?cause they usually turn the wheel around about this time I heard that same ol' voice inside, I had to drown it out So I found me a radio station playing something fast and I turned it up real loud And if I'm not over you by the time I get to Georgia Then I'll be Alabama bound There was a time I'd do anything for ya But this time baby, I won't turn around There was a time when I'd do anything for ya But this time baby, oh I won't turn around Oh I won't turn around If I'm not over you by Georgia, then I'll head to Alabama Roll on to Mississippi, or maybe Louisiana I'll drive all the way to California I won't turn around No I won't turn around No I won't turn around No I won't turn around

Ya. Don’t get too excited. She will never be anyone special. Her voice could be a challenge for karaoke singers but it’s no challenge for the talented vocalists out there. She should have stuck to writing for real singers like Chely Wright and Martina mcbride because her voice will never be able to compete with talent like that. She would have went further and made more money if she recognized that. But she was delusional and fell flat on her face. She may as well go back to wherever she came from. She’ll be famous there only.
