Taxes are too high in the west to sustain labor intensive jobs that are not considered mandatory. Like housing, electricity and plumbing. You have to sell your products at 2 to 3x the price to pay the taxes.

To make it look fully floating, you can cover the base with mirrors, that are mounted in an angle reflecting the floor. You just have two small seames in the front corners.
