You NAILED it. "There will never be another Karen Carpenter." 4 Grammys, platinum and gold albums. No auto-tune or gimmicks. Her female 'backup voice' was her harmony, dubbed into her songs by Richard. She very rarely needed more than one studio take for her recordings, (her nickname was 'one-take'). Described by many in the music industry as THE best female voice. John Lennon personally complemented her voice. Frank Sinatra supposedly said she was the only performer he would pay to hear. Many acquaintances, but no known close friends except Dionne Warwick, and a couple others, (documentary; "Only Yesterday") She was even voted as Best Rock Drummer of 1975 by Playboy. She married a guy for a few months in 1982 who was actually a broke scam artist and mistreated her. She never knew love. Karen was afflicted with anorexia for years and died in 1983 at 32.

According to Richard Carpenter this lushly orchestrated piece was Karen’s favorite Carpenter song. It is beautiful, raw, and vulnerable, capturing the sadness of not having found love yet and wanting it to happen so badly. For me, whenever I listen to Karen's vocals in this song, she connects with the lyrics in a deeply emotional way as if she's lived every word.

My mother met Karen Carpenter late in her career. She battled Anorexia and at one time she fainted on stage. She really was a talented singer and her brother was one of the most talented songwriters and composers of all time (nobody recognizes the things that he added to music compositions like adding guitar solo's to love songs or doing overdubs on Karen Carpenter to make her voice sound like multiple singers). I don't know if you did a reaction video to 'All you get from love is a love song' but that is one of my favorites of hers. It is great that you are discovering karen Carpenter and I hope you continue to discover other artists like her.
