Shane, thank you for commenting on the legendary Carpenters. I am so glad that younger people like yourself are discovering and acknowledging the greatness of Karen and Richard. The Carpenters' talents are extraordinary and timeless.

Great selection of the video and song. Wonderful talent. So much volume, richness, and clarity and her expressions are so beautiful with that classic Karen Carpenter melancholy blended with hopeful energy. So iconic.

Carpenters were insane. This coming from a hard blues rocker, Karen was gorgeous, humble, kind and there are not enough words to describe her beauty and talent.

Great reaction to Superstar,Shane. I'm near 70 years old and heard the song hundreds of times, but the first time I actually saw Karen sing it,I reacted exactly like you did. Full body chills and goose bumps. Her voice is spell binding. Like nothing before or since. Keep up your journey on Carpenters. Everything they did was pure heaven and it's all because of that beautiful brown eyed little drummer girl with the bangs. The world loves you angel face. I pray you rest in peace. 😢🙏

and when she played the drums there were no hitches in her singing....such an amazing talent. Watch any videos where she is playing her drums...you'll see a happiness that is always missing when they just have her up front singing.

Karen was a beautiful singer. There is a young lady by the name of Angelina Jordan. She is the best singer on the planet. She is 18 years old and won Norway Got Talent at 7 years old, and she is an international treasure. Her millions of fans will check out your first video of Angelina. Best wishes to you.

I remember when this song dropped. Karen was loved by all generations: grandparents, parents, and young hippies like myself. That didn't happen a lot with the music scene in the 70's.

In Nov of 2018 Richard Carpenter released "CARPENTERS WITH THE ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA" by taking the masters of 17 of their songs to the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London and after arranging the music and directing the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra made new masters by overlaying the orchestra music on the old masters. This version of "SUPERSTAR" is from that work. Also, on the album is 1. RPO Overture, 2. Yesterday Once More, 3. Hurting Each Other, 4. I Need To Be In Love, 5. For All We Know, 6. Touch Me When We're Dancing, 7. I Believe You, 8. I Just Fall In Love Again, 9. Merry Christmas Darling, 10. Baby It's You, 11. (They Long To Be) Close To You, 12. Superstar, 13. Rainy Days And Mondays, 14. This Masquerade, 15. Ticket To Ride, 16. Goodbye To Love, 17. Top Of The World, 18. We've Only Just Begun. While my mind prefers the jazz they played as the Dick Carpenter Trio (1965 to 1968 in LA clubs Karen was a 15 year old drummer then) my heart belongs to the original tracks but my ears love this album.

It's amazing that the brain remembers song lyrics after decades. Karen had such a beautiful voice but couldn't take the stress of the industry. Really sad 💔Thanks Shane ☮

@@elkevera from what I’ve seen, her mother contributed greatly to her anorexia. She often let it be known that Richard was her favorite child. She took Karen to a weight loss doctor when she was just 17.

Hi Shane, Yes, it’s goosebumps time. This song is one of those that can get you, big time. The drums on this one was Hal Blaine, he of many Carpenters studio recordings. The musicality on this is all Richard’s arrangement. Complimenting Karen’s vocals perfectly. I want to link you to a restored video of a Carpenters appearance on The Tonight Show from 1973. They performed live the song from their second album, Mr. Guder. A Richard and John Bettis composition it’s about their boss when they worked at Disneyland to make a few bucks to buy audio tapes to record on. Karen sings lead and drums simultaneously, live! It’s a beautiful restoration and is just magical. That’s Bob Messenger on the electric flute, a full run member of the band and on many album sings. He was a triple threat, Bass, Sax and Flute. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jX-ZqmqIf9SMrJYsi=5A_nxeJukOVCjCjv This channel by my friend Harvey, is a repository of his wonderful restorations of Carpenters videos. I’m also going to go sponsor another Tori song. This one is a song she sang when last April she was one of 8 invited artists to the Carpenters 55th Anniversary. She was the only singer to sing a non-Carpenters song. It’s; Something In Your Eyes. Richard wrote it and Karen died before even hearing it. So we will imagine what it might have been like if Carpenters recorded it. It was recorded by Dusty Springfield in 1987 for Richard’s solo album, Time. That video is also on KZbin as a reference point. Tori’s performance in the church was noisy and boomy so when she got home, she re-recorded it (the “Studio Version”). She also embellished it with backing vocals and used video and pictures from that day. Here’s the link and I’ll refer this comment in my donation. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXuzanaEqJ6MjJYsi=wn3ClZlfKJdYXw3N I hope you enjoy this. Joe
