The purpose of this test is to see if these robots will avoid the carpet and clean the areas around the carpet. Not suppose to simulate a real world scenario, most people will pickup the Bathroom rugs before mopping.
Not only do these mopping robots have to mop well, they have to be able to avoid carpet, small Bathroom Rugs and navigate effectively to not get stuck or try to mop the carpet.
No one wants to come home to a soiled dirty wet Carpet 😫.

Haha, I was wondering if the Braava would shove the carpets around, since iRobot tends to make its robots try things with the bumper. People complain about the Roombas bumping into things that they should know are there, but, as I see it, it's a way to make sure they clean under dangling fabric that isn't a real obstacle, such as curtains, drapes, and decorative skirts that are sometimes put around couches or beds to conceal the space underneath. The real interesting part is what you said about the mop resistance. That explains how the Braava sometimes gets stuck on the carpet to the right of your entry (if you don't wall it off somehow). From the looks of it, your carpet there is pretty smoothed down in one direction, probably from foot traffic in that area. As a result, like when you brush hair or fur, the rug would offer very little resistance in one direction (roughly towards the camera), while it would resist a lot going the other way. This is consistent with how the Braava got trapped in your previous test: It rode up onto the carpet in the "easy" direction, but when it tried to back out or turn, the mop sliding in the other direction caught on the carpet fibers so securely that the wheels lost traction. Of course, since iRobot bots are not known for giving up very easily, it kept trying to get off the carpet, resulting in a protracted trip across it in the direction of the fibers instead, with much kicking and screaming, until it hit the wall and was well and truly trapped.

Hast you read my Mind, well said and that exactly what I was trying to show in this video. While I love the Braava m6, trying to rely on the bumper and resistance of the pad doesn't work too well, still manages to beach it self on to the carpet. Yes the Roombas don't like to give up, which can be a good and bad thing. The s9 has the same aggressive can do atitude and rarely gives up but will scrape the walls and move anything in it's way including small children, pets and furniture. I am glad someone understands the tests I perform 😆

Question for you- Can you do a video on doing a cleaning run with the M6 and then have the ilife w400 go over the same spot to see how much it left behind? And vice versa? Have you had issues with the M6 leaving streaks on your floor? I have ran into many issues with it.

Yes the m6 is known to leave tire streaks, so I will provide a video of the two Mopping robots cleaning up after each other

I only have hard floor in kitchen, entryway, master bathroom and bathroom. Everything else it’s carpet. My question is, will the M6 iRobot move through the carpet to get from kitchen to master bathroom to mop the floor?

Robot masters....how does the braava jet 240 navigate? Does it also map your home and create a floorplan like the M6? How does the 380t compare?

The Braava Jet does not map the house like the m6. It designed for smaller areas like bathrooms and kitchen areas. The m6 can handle the entire house. The 380t is similar to the 240 in navigation but can mop a larger area like the m6 can.

The M6 seems a little too pricey, and it seems the navigation cube for the 380t helps improve that...what does a better job in your opinion? I have a large open plan kitchen/dining/living area all tiled.

the test would have been good if the carpets were not worn. there are extra so anti-slip things for carpets. a test under real conditions please. and if the little carpets were in the bathroom, they would pick them up anyway. you want to have it down there clean, where the carpets are in the bathroom

Yeah you are right about that, thanks for the honest feedback. 👍 I will look into finding better carpet, but find the m6 still likes to beach it self on my permanent carpet.

How does the m6 and w400 handle carpet fringe?

I would recommend tucking them in, the w400 might get hung up on them where as the m6 would try to push them or mop them.

@@nathanielrichards6911 The only solution I would recommend is a mild solution or iRobot mopping solution because harsh chemicals can damage the mechanical components inside the robot. Use at your own risk, iLife may void the warranty if any other solution is used other than warm water.

Qiu Syah The Braava Jet m6 does the best for getting stubborn stains off, If you have a smaller area I would recommend the Braava 240. I find the iLife does a descent job, can pickup liquid spills but has trouble with hard grime. So my recommendation for stains is the Braava m6

Qiu Syah Usually the m6 is available on Amazon, ebay and other online stores. You can also get the m6 at Best Buy. The 240 has the same cleaning performance as the bigger brother m6 just cheaper, smaller and cuter 😃

The only robot vacuum that can physically raise the mopping pad to transition onto carpet the veniibot n1. The Roborock can go on carpet with it mopping pad.

My Roomba mopper went on the carpet and I had to get a $1000 new carpet because that was an EXPENSIVE carpet. But it probably went on the carpet because it’s so thin and big. But oh well. It was more expensive now because they say the carpet is now vintage. But that doesn’t matter. So the problem was the mopper didn’t have enough space to mop because we have so many carpets in our home. So I can just get the new mopper not the m6. Plus the wetness will get stuck in our floorboards because we have a house that was built in 1786. So may not be good for old homes like mine. But the newer one will work. And I am sure because I contacted IRobot service and they said get the latest version of the mopper. But I’m fine now with my Roomba s9+. So if I get a mopper it’ll work with my Roomba s9+. Yay! More robots taking over my home!

Yes Robots are taking over our Homes 😆. The w400 a good cleaner if you don't mind not having the smart mapping features or the self charging capabilities. I really like the price point at a more reasonable $250. Lastly the robot never went on to the carpet like the m6 did. Sorry about your ruined carpet, mopping robots are fairly new and companies are working out the kinks 👍
