Thanks for the quality review! I've been wanting to upgrade my head unit but this seems so convenient. I got a dash cam a few years back but never hooked up the rear camera and it ended up getting lost in a move so this seems like a no brainer. By in large an ok device so far. The cameras are great and the unit doesn’t seem affected performance wise, while recording in background. My concerns.. to mirror an android screen one must install an app, while the app IS in the playstore required permissions to run voids feelings of SECURITY. The audio output on the 2.5mm jack has some noise. This was observed with the screen off, car off and using a stand alone non car speaker, also present when I use the factory power adapter. So far I’m pleased with its performance but I’ll probably use a different phone to drive it.

Thanks! I can't see a hardwire kit for the W903. I see there's one for the 701/901, but that's DC power and not USB-C. Not sure if the device has built in battery-drain protection either, but in theory it would record 24/7 if powered

sorry for a dumb question since I am totally new to this - it seems to me that if you want to use this for navigation, you need your phone to be running the entire time and the google maps is running on your phone as well. So, you would need the phone to be powered as well. Am I missing something? Thanks v much for your excellent and detailed video

Hi, yes on this device you need your phone to be connected for navigation as it uses CarPlay or Android Auto. If the phone doesn't have great battery then yes it would need to be charged.

No I don't believe there is. Carpuride does it for some devices though, so it might be worth reaching out to them

I haven't used the W905 but they look quite similar. I like how narrow the screen is on the Carpuide W903 as it doesn't take up as much space on the dashboard :)

I'm not sure they call it dual Bluetooth, but you can definitely play your audio via your car speakers with Bluetooth

Quick question. Does this do dual bluetooth like the older W901 Pro? Watching some videos I am not 100% on if the W903 handles both bluetooth connections or if your phone does (i.e. wireless CarPlay from iPhone to the W903 and then you *also* connect your iPhone to your cars bluetooth for audio). On the W901 Pro the W901 is the device that connects to your cars bluetooth audio.

No it appears the W903 doesn't have dual bluetooth. In the manual it says "please use your phone to connect to the bluetooth of the car stereo", so your phone does all the work.

@@LensOfJames Cheers for confirming. This is what I had concluded too watching a few videos. In your use of the W903 how have you found it? My wife has a 2018 Captur that lacks CarPlay so thinking of picking this up for her but she wants to continue to be able to use the steering wheel controls for media. I assume the 903 deals with this via CarPlay just fine as the phone is connected to the car for media which is our current setup and media playback is fine, I guess the 903 will just show a "nicer" media interface than the default in Captur MediaNav software? Then she can just use the 903 for a nicer/bigger Apple Maps screen, etc? If I am right the 903 doesn't need to connect to your car at all via bluetooth as leaves that up to your phone so your phone is connected to both the 903 and your car and then the 903 controls media as it controls your phone via CarPlay. Am I getting that right? Cheers!

I really like the W903, it's got a place on my dashboard permanently now and has worked perfectly size I got it. Yeah, the steering wheel controls still work for changing tracks etc. with, as you say, the phone playing the media directly through the car. That's exactly right - I don't have the 903 connected to the car at all via bluetooth, just to my phone. Hope your wife likes it!

my google maps audio keeps playing from the Carpuride unit, how do i get it to play through the Bluetooth audio from the car

You'll need to turn off playback through the device and connect to the device via bluetooth.

@@LensOfJames just upgraded Nord VPN and was able to exclude AA in the tunneling option.....hope this will do the job!

I don’t understand why a vpn. Any data sent will enter and leave the vpn server. This includes desired vpn traffic and web traffic. In the application agreement you grant a lot of permissions. So if you manage to connect via vpn to you house server any data may still be at risk. As any data could be captured by the device and still escape the VPNs web interface. I’m always seeking knowledge , if your knowledge is different than mine please share … VPN doesn’t impact file security ( unless you device is clean ) only anonymity, and with gps and mobile wireless ap point reporting that’s pretty much done for. I don’t worry about our government, the fact is we are taking about foreign governments and dark web. it’s important to me because and my bank accounts are managed via internet. It been years since my retirement and tech moves fast…

@@lovasjj Thanks for the reply. I use the VPN mainly for all the apps on my phone, not worried about AA. However when I first loaded AA to connect to Carpuride W903 I had an error that due to security issues with AA it would not connect bluetooth. I turned off the VPN and everything worked fine. However I did not want to do this every time so I contacted nord VPN and i was able to go to the tunneling and exclude AA from VPN and everything works fine.

I'll have to make a video comparing them soon! They're both very good devices, but the screen quality is better on the W903 and it has the front facing camera too, plus the user interface is also nicer with more settings. Not sure about the 905 as I haven't got my hands on it yet 🙂
