Hi Anthony, what would you recommend. Manly for watching KZbin and hearing music. If budget wasn't an issue, would you go for a. A Samsung Dex - auto pro x or a AI Box - like apple pie rocket or Carlinkit Tbox UHD 6225. I have an aftermarket head unit i have an Alpine Halo 11 ILX -F511 High resolution (128x720 pixel) display. If you have a Samsung device for Samsung decks, then the Auto Pro X is a decent way to keep all your apps and accounts in sync on the device and not on a box like an AI Box, which could be stolen from the car with your signing accounts contained on it. The rocket and the CarlinKit AI boxes are two different beasts at various different prices. The rocket is going to give you the best speed for multitasking and games if that's what you plan on doing with it otherwise, a slower CPU will be just as good of an experience for video music playback. However, the 6225 CarlinKit has a bug, as do several 6225 AI boxes. So, if a CarlinKit brand is important, then I would go for the 660 version, as it handles KZbin much better.

Do you have to have android auto in the car for this to work? My car only has CarPlay

Yes it runs off the android auto platform. So you need a wired androids auto usb port

@ my 2020 BMW has everything but no android auto. It has several usb ports so not sure if that would work but it only has wireless carplay

If you can connect via a cable to the usb port and have it run CP or AA then I’ll work. If it can only work over a wireless connection then it won’t work.

No need to connect as it’s coming off the phone so as long as phone has data sim in it you’re good to go

I can do all of this on my Pioneer 8600NEX. When I hook up my phone through USB C to mini HDMI, it tells me DEX is not allowed. I shut it off and mirror screen anything from my phone to the display.

Is it possible to connect it wired instead of wireless? I have a s23 ultra with a burn motherboard so it can't connect to wifi or Bluetooth. Everything else works on the phone.

No I think it’s wireless only. Have you thought about using Dex over hdmi instead? And connect it via an hdmi to CarPlay adapter?

Carlinkit HDMI adapter with a cable does DeX, and wireless works with any Miracast Sink/Wifi Display device. Plenty of options that might be better. I used a Galaxy phone and Tab, and this is not how I know DeX.... Looks very slow and laggy.

Sounds like it isn't necessarily the best car adapter for people with a Dex-capable phone (or "Dex users") I agree (even if it is the only Dex adapter). I am temped by the security point though. Shame you have to pay expensive shipping from the US

The lag is from his car, not the phone or adapter. The lag is the same as a normal wireless display on a new car.

I dont get full screen on my ioniq 5 its been a wasteful experience. Very buggy and crashes constantly. I did upgrade to newest firmware, after receiving it today. Was hoping to replace my carlinkit tbox plus as that is also buggy. But at least the screen is full size and I can actually use all the apps with the tbox plus.

Yes it’s worth it if you have both CP and AA. It will not convert CP for use with AA. Tbox is good but try to max out the ram and make sure it’s 6125 or the newer 6115 that’s going around now. 6225 cpu is best from CarlinKit adapters if you can stretch that far
