Because the cutoff of 1,000 is where serious injury is likely, but not death. At a HIC of 1,194 there would likely be serious head injury such as a major concussion or possibly a skull fracture, but most likely the occupant would make a full recovery, given some time and medical attention. Serious injuries. The cutoff for likely life vs. death is a HIC of about 2,000. From 1,000 to 2,000 serious, but survivable, injuries are likely, though death is possible at the upper end of this range (>1,500 or so) January 27, 2025 11:06 pm
