Lived in the area for 45 years I have been inside the bunker, tunnels just lead to a single room. We use to go after school and watch what they had pulled out of their when they drained it. Lots of kids use to jump off the cliffs and swim opposite the bunker.

There’s nothing in there but a nice big wooden door and a decent size room

It was used for dumping plenty of ww2 era items in there from Harley parts to guns and ammunition and wears

I've driven past that quarry countless times for easily 15 years and never seen the water low enough that the entrances are above water. Sadly, a well-protected secret! Likewise, the old rail line that used to run along Beatty Road and end in that same park has no remnants to be found either.

I also grew up there, used to swim in the hole. I watched them excavate it and went into the bunker after rhey cleared it. It's nowhere near as interesting as you think. Just a single room, no tunnels to the airport or anything. Iirc they left parts of a plane fuselage on the bank when they packed up and left

Local rumour is a bottomless pit half full of ww2 equipment. But I do believe these is a tunnels from today's airport all over the area. Way back it was a major airport. Qantas flew out of there before it became a a collection of initials.

I grew up on Mortimer road, just up from the quarry. We were always told it was a bottomless pit. As kids, me and my two brothers were always curious about it.

@@youngbess1 its not bottomless. It goes down about 10 or so meters and thats it.
