The Public Health Agency of Canada and the World Health Organization will be presenting a joint talk on health inequalities monitoring at global and national levels, including reporting activities under the Pan-Canadian Health Inequalities Reporting Initiative. Various tools and practices will be featured.
Session 2:
· Dr. Carlos Quiñonez (Western’s Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry)
In this presentation, Dr. Quiñonez will discuss how, over a 15-year period, a research program on oral health-related inequity leveraged existing Canadian datasets to argue for change in Canada’s oral health care system and policy.
Objectives
After attending the CARRFS 2023 Symposium, participants will be able to:
(1) Understand how inequities can adversely affect population health and public health systems.
(2) Become aware of methods and surveillance systems to identify and monitor health determinants and inequities.
(3) Understand the indicators, and relationships between indicators, for monitoring health inequities.
(4) Explore best practices for data analysis, presentation, and dissemination of results to effect policy changes.
