It was probably not his choice. He was probably holding her at arm's length, like Carrie held him at arm's length. His ex-wife is a furniture maker like he is... that's how they met. She may have moved into interior design, this breaking the reason why they were together. At any rate, they are a mismatch and not in a good way. There's also a sliver of revenge here on his part. He was passive-agressive when they got back together: guys night out; canoodling with the female bartender, etc. Curiosity may have brought him to her, but she's not relocating and neither is he.....so, it was an opportunity to set her up in a no-win situation. Aidan may be divorced but he is never alone for long. There's probably a companion in his hometown.

Those were her two great loves, she went back-and-forth between them because - for all three of them, it seems - it was easier to try to build back the intense and familiar love than to start all over. This is true many times in real life.. it seems they were willing to forgive each other the hurtful things they did in the past (she forgave Big, Aidan forgave her)..

They should’ve left things as is and develop relatable relationship issues/stories and gotten new characters and not have Carrie and the others so hyper obsessed with falling in love. Yeah - someone's math is wrong. I am 52 and watched this series religiously. It ran from 1998-2004. Aiden's storyline didn't come on until 2001 - so that is 22 years ago. Which still freaks me out but it sure isn't 30

I dont know… I loved Aidan more than anyone on this show. And them being together was my ultimate happy end back then. I never cared that much about Big in comparison. And was looking for an Aidan in real life. There should not be such thing “she deserves” or not. I think everyone deserves love. And it was clear from the tv series that she loved Aidan, as Big and Aidan were established as the two loves of her life. I dont care how Carrie is flawed. So many women are stupid and flawed. But they still can hope to find a man like Aidan. And have a family with him… be happy.

This guy is the biggest SIMP of all time. She cheated on him with Big, refused to marry him but married Big, lived a perfectly happy life with Big, and now that Big faked his own death to get away from her, she goes to second option. Now that she is old and undesirable. Never be second option for anyone, no matter how much you love them. Have some dignity. I loved SATC. It tackled subjects like sexuality and relationships and that's why I watched it. But Carrie should have never ended up with Big. And Aidan should have left the first time and never looked back. Carrie should have been a cautionary tale for the young women watching SATC. She should have ended up single at the end of it. Because in reality cheating on a good loving man with a narcissist (which is what Big is) isn't rewarded with a lifetime of bliss next to the narcissist. That's just not how reality works. And cheating on a good man shouldn't be glamourised either. The show should have showed the real consequences of running after emotionally unavailable men while treating good men as second option. But the writers chose to force a love story with a happy end on two characters that were not meant to be together (Big and Carrie) and in AJLT they are forcing yet again a reunion between the world's biggest simp and the woman who dumped him for the better option (in her eyes).
