If you're really into Carrie's bad-ass belt, & want to try more musical stuff, I strongly recommend checking out her version of "I Say No" from Heathers, my personal favourite of her performances!Her vocal range in that is amazing, and the level of emotion she puts into that song is incredible!

Such a refreshing perspective! She does have an amazing amount of vocal discipline --really refined her voice w/o losing the personal, deep and even sometimes raw feelings to her song. Much respect. Ooh I'm very much a musical newcomer so I'd be down to discover musicals with you!

He doesnt like sad things, I don't think you should recommend that. Like at least tell him its super sad because he deserves to know if he doesn't like sad things
@shay1811973 жыл бұрын
@@oriana_fortunato oh that’s a good point. I thought about how open he is about mental health and figured he’d appreciate the way the musical expresses it, especially Evan’s social anxiety. But you’re right it’s getting super sad towards the end... Still, I think “Waving Through a Window” & “Sincerely Me” are safe bets as individuals

Hi Steven, I am a theater college adult. I'm 42, so I cannot call myself a kid. However, since you studied theatre for a year, I was taught that singing and actors can easily transition from singing into acting, since the best singers draw upon upon their emotion just like an actor uses their emotion and has something to express their character. I think the social norms which set the cultural coolness for music that appeals to young people easily misjudge thr creativity and hard work of non-mainstream stuff. OK. It might be different because if Glee. But when I was a kid, theatre was not respected and appreciated by tge young minds of Generation X or early millenials. Later millenials started to see the change in social norms as young people started to appreciate theater once again. Now, for some reason, there is something in the minds of younger people that annoys kids these days when people break out in song and dance. They don't appreciate it. They absolutely cringe. But I think it's because they haven't found out the piece of theatre that relates to them. As a person who appreciates rock, for example, you may be happy to find pit that Andrew Lloyd Webber is just about pop and opera like most people think he is because of The Phantom of The Opera. Like all musicians, people are inspired by all types of music. Andrew Lloyd Webber has been inspired by some rock. Back when ALW was young and after his college days, he worked on the famous rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar. Although dated, this music is harder than most musicals, which are pop or light opera. No. Jesus christ Superstar is not as hard as Tommy, but you can probably hear the rock influence in it, along with jazz, pop, and Gospel. Jesus christ Superstar is one of my favorite musicals and is a great introduction to musicals, especially since you like rock. In fact, many rock artist have covered songs from this musical and even the whole musical. When Jesus christ superstar came out, it was recorded as a concept album before it was staged in London and Broadway. And the people on the 1970's cast album were not theater actors. Since it's been covered, it nay ge hard to tell what is considered a cast album. The original concept album wmwhich is brown and on MCA records with Ian Gilla and Murray Head is an official concept album, even though it was bit tgexstafe version. It was produced by ALW. Then there's the 1970s movie cast album with Ted Neely. Then there's the 1996 cast. Sometimes it's called the lyceum cast and sometimes it's called the 1996 concept album. It's mostly the cast from the London show in 1996, but Alice Cooper who plays King Herod here was not in the stage cast. Steve Balssmo plays Jesus and is incredible. There's also the 25th 1992 London Cast recording. There's also a 1970s highlights album for tge 1970s cast but is long out if print. It's also not the best recording. There's also the Broadway cast recording from the 1970s (reissued later by Decca Broadway in the 2000's as it was oddly originally an Asian imported cd on MCA-- go figure). It's also not really that great but still official cast recording. There's also the 1970s Live Australian cast recording on Aztec records tgat was released for the first time on CD but in 2018! It's a 2CD awesome cast recording. The 1992 Australian cast cd was official but Lloyd Webber did not like tge changes they did giving it a house feel rather than rock. However, it's still an official recording. This also goes for the 1994 New Zealand cast recording. Then there's an NBC special with Jon Legend, which I never watched. And there was a Broadway version with Glen Carter which was recorded live on DVD, but his Jesus was mediocre. But it's still an official cast. Then there's a bunch of knockoff studio recordings of Jesus christ superstar that are subpar and just meh. A rock group and some pop/rock stars from the U.S Amy Ray/Michael Lorant did an unofficial album. It's not a cast recording CD. But its a great studio album. However, these aren't the orchestrations you'll see in the show. It's like a full cover album of the entire show. It's wonderful for a studio album, just unofficial and doesn't represent the orchestrations from the musical. But it's still wonderfull. Let ne our it this way. It would be like if KZbins greatest stars that sing decided to sing the whole show but made their own interpretations --unofficial but high quality. For reactions, I recommend Gethsemane (I only wanna say) sung by Steve Balsamo from the 1996 cast, tge 2970s movie with Ted Neely. Murray Head from the original concept album is great too. If you want to hear another song from a different musical check out The Beauty Underneath from Love Never Dies by Andrew Lloyd Webber from the 2010 cast recording with Ramin Karimloo. Love Never Dies is mostly classical with vaudeville and opera. And then there's this song that is totally awesome. This song however as been updated on the 2018 cast cd (billed as U.S Tour but really Australian cast-- go figure) and tge the very few notes were removed since it sounded too creepy rather than magical. But I like the creepy version from tge 2010 original cast cd of Love Never Dies.
