German AP bomb penetration is height dependent. The higher you drop from, the more penetration you get. Drop late and low to citadel cruisers. Letting Gravity do the work

This is not correct. WG personally confirmed that the drop height has no influence on the bomb pen

Shockwave I'm not sure that's true in the game but, if it is, that's completely opposite to how it works in reality. In reality the longer you hold the drive the more likely the bomb is not only to hit the target but penetrate (up until the point you pull back and flatten the dive). WWII bombers often performed 70 degree dive angles with the throttle wide open or close to it so significantly faster than the terminal velocity of a bomb. This is why they needed, usually, at least 1000 feet pull out of a dive and why the g's were so crushing on pilot and aircraft.

I know that in reality this is the case, that's why there was a rumor. However, WG once commented on it in a stream and clearly said that it is not a mechanic in wows or wowsl🤷‍♂️

I personally, as someone who plays Japanese CVs, I use dive bombers as early scouts and anti-anti-air duty

The CVs have changed quite a bit. I’d agree the role is now diminished. I usually enjoy supportive roles in most games, and that role is now hampered in WoWSL CVs. But I’ll get on board with the spotting change. But that, with limited fuel means it’s very much an UP DOWN race to deal out maximum damage. Hitting destroyers should be easier in some of the countries HE bombers. And the nerf on skip bomb bounce is fair. But getting close to well AA clad destroyers is impossible - I’ve had the totally deplane me a few times. I think people are running aggressive AA builds on destroyers more Han any other class. The fuel limitations are significant. I think a better setup would be a tiny increase on range, but have a percentage of the squadron peel off a return to ship after X distance. The American fuel is the longest. They lessen as you go right across the countries. Russia is worst. It’s significant. I see lots of premium CVs out there currently. Not many tech tree ones have great games. I don’t have premiums beyond the Zuiho so can’t comment. The Zuiho are paper and shred fast, but I think the torps are dishing out big damage.

Idk man. Came back 2 weeks ago after not playing for a year and half, and pobeda still seems like it’s one of the best carrier. The skip bomb nerf I KINDA notice but at the same time i can still get 10-15k strikes on BBs plus a fire or two. The biggest thing was nerfing them from being able to do damage before they actually skip but that was a rare use for them anyways. The torps still do 12-24k damage depending on damage reduction so they’re still fine. The only thing I’ve really changed is that I move up just a tad more to make better use of the rocket assisted takeoffs since spotting doesn’t mean anything anymore. Edit: tbf I haven’t played all the CVs again yet just pobeda, Saipan, and Parseval.

Pobeda has suffered this update so yes her bombs like Serov can't just drop bombs on top of a ship no more but Pobeda was shadow nerfed so she only pen 33mm of armor with her bombs and her bombs don't skip as high no more so using them on battleships is basically useless her bombs shatter on battleships due to hitting the armor belt and her 👁️ mbs are mainly for cruisers and destroyers I had to build into torpedo speed just to make her slow torpedoes useable in battleships

Also air detectability of DDs can be so low with their AA off u physically cannot see them until your already dropping

Good video I am not to mad on spotting it sucks with DDs as now they have no real counter but rader/sonar CLs and BBs, but playing CLs its great lets them be more useful. Before you could be spotted by planes and if the enemy team was any good get focused down before you got to do much, or on the other end your side not taking advantage of CV spotting like a DD getting spotted and seeing no one shoot at it, Now even before the rework the roll they had was hit or miss. Also even if they could spot still the fuel makes that limited now. And at least the spotted plane ships are marked on the map so you know were they are at least, in a one matche my CV spoted that 3 BBs were going to cap I was on as 2 came from center cap, I was in a CL and turnned away from that cap as I had no BB on my cap side and the mid cap guys went to another cap them enemies BB being marked on the map is still useful, also I was plane spotted by thier CV at the time if this was the old way those three BBs would have yeeted me, What sucks is spotting planes are now useless, I only had them to spot DDs as they better accuracy is not worth it, I now use secondary boosters, also no the torps not that OP, I rather eat CVs torps then DD torps, they do far more damage have higher risk to cause floods,

Yeah, the spotting mechanic change is a big buff to destroyers and cruisers and a double edged sword for battleships. On the one hand you're not constantly spotted from across the map, on the other hand we've lost all airplane spotting to take shots from across the map.

I had a 120k damage and 3250 base xp in my Lexington this week with a clear sky medal. I totally wrecked a Zieten by myself at the beginning of the game, then took out the Graf Zeppelin. I think carriers take a high skill level now, maybe higher than any other line. I hate the spotting change.

To me it's just a tradeoff, utility for damage farming, that made carriers a little funner for about a week or so now they're kinda lame again.

Have you seen the carrier glitch/ hack where your planes can fly unlimited? I killed a carrier and his planes flew around until the end of game, 5 minutes flight time

My cynical side after playing this game for 3 years says WG both really loves money and knows how popular Enterprise is , probably the most famous ship from WWII, and will release it the most monetizable way possible.
