CARRION GOLEM GUARDIAN! - Minion League Start Build Guide - PoE 3.23 Affliction - PoB

We got the gem info we need to commit to Carrion Golem Guardian as a league starter for Path of Exile 3.23. In this league start build guide I explain basically every component of my minion league start. This build PoB'ed eveb better than I could expect and only requires one cheap unique to get going. As long as the transfigured gems are relatively easy to acquire we should be in for an awesome league start! Looks like Summon Carrion Golem of Hordes will not have the golems deal More damage for each non-golem minion near it line on it. I am really surprised by this to be honest (and a little sad), and it is a significant DPS loss. I am still league starting this build however and am really interested in seeing the numbers on Carrion Golem of Scavenging. Looks like it dies a stronger version of the bone spike move and still has the nearby minion buff.

Could you run one regular carion and one of hordes to gain the advantage of both?

I don't believe the of hordes golems would get the increased damage, only the normal one would.

SRS is good. This is definitely an easier playstyle though and having permanent minions is pretty nice to me.

Nice guide! Just one question, I have to be missing something... but where do you get your resistance from? The minons yes, but personal? Is there something that makes you take part of minion resistance? Love to know!

In the PoB I have it baked into the config. There's plenty of open stat slots on the gear to fill out the resistances though!

Love the build. Pretty much what I was looking to start. I am going to use arcanist brand for my desecrate, bone offering, and curse. Have you looked at Maata's Teaching for a main hand? Also, elemental penetration support might be a good support gem once you have some currency. Also, I wonder how much damage is lost since the new carrion golem horde trans gem looks like it won't include the carrion golem buffs of the normal gem.

I looked at Maata's but it's pretty expensive (or at least was) and we don't know what the rarity of it will be now in the normal drop pool. Ele pn and ele weakness have diminishing returns together. The supports listed in the PoB are by far the highest DPS links with this setup. My guess is it will still have the carrion golem has increased damage buff, but won't grant additional phys to allies. That's just my guess, but seems reasonable.

My goal for any league starter is all 4 voidstones and at least a couple different currency strategies. I feel pretty comfortable this build can accomplish that.

I am super new so in sorry for my ignorance but I had a couple questions: Can you talk about where Haste, Precision and Grace are slotted on your previous PoB? They’re down at the bottom and I don’t know what that means? With the affliction specters, do these run permanently once cast? Can you tell my why you chose elemental weakness on the build for the ring? Have you swapped out of Profane Proxy?

Pretty soild build, I personally prefer using elemental army +holy relic set up and place aura on an unset ring(since you have spiritual shield and a bone ring, your minion res can be easily capped),whitch porvieds you with a tons of regen.Also you can cheat a little by adding purity of element and ditch out skitterbot, go a little cocky on your bone ring and shiled(+minion damage,move speed, etc).Cheers.

Nice work, and nice build. What spectre would be advisable to use? I saw that you mentioned the Crab and the Chieftain, what else could be used?

I like using Wild Bristle Matron as a defensive option, Just feels pretty good to me. Pale Seraphim is also always a good choice. I avoid arena master because of the increased damage taken debuff it applies with its buff. (I feel like this question will get asked eventually so answering ahead of time.) :)

@@firkzgaming Do you think picking up Host & Carnage chieftains in Act 7, that we will have enough minion life to keep them alive? I am definitely waiting until maps (probably) to use the AG, I absolutely hate losing them.

I usually add spectres at start of maps and then start thinking about AG when I can get all the gear and about a level 18+ gem. At start of mapping I'd probably just go 2 carnage chieftains to keep frenzy at 3 all the time. Power charges actually add very little to the build.

The new gem looks like it doesn't include the Carrion Golem buffs? If you adjust the config page in PoB to be zero nearby minions you lose 1.2 million damage on golems. (You will also lose the flat phys buff for Zombies but I don't know how to adjust that in PoB.)

I'm pretty hopeful it will still have the line that increases the damage of carrion golems. It doesn't say "grants" or "buffs" on that line in the normal gem, it just seems inherent to carrion golems. The added phys buff however is certainly going to be gone. We'll see how it plays out. Hopefully we get the Carrion Golem gem today!

Does anyone have a good league-starter regex? I am having trouble coming up with something that has the crazy combos of red&blue we need, along with red&green (for leap slam+faster attacks), keep hitting the char limit for pasting in game (which ends up not pasting anything)

What leveling for this build u use? I was checking previous video here u are using SRS for leveling. Or should i go Caster and after first lab switch to zomb + carrion golem?

I’m probably going to use absolution until first lab. But it’s really whatever feels comfortable for you until first lab. After that sentinel of radiance can basically do the entire campaign themselves.

IDK, lol. There's honestly not three 4 green gems I want to use. That's why I've been running 3g/1r. The 1 red actually helps though with getting ignite going for extra damage from the Raze & Pillage cluster gem.

How do you plan on making the golems and zombies aggressive? I see you have FF on the AG, but that should only affect the minions in that link. I would love to play golems in SSF but making the golems aggressive(FF killing my 6 link or Anima+might being super hard to hit) has always deleted my hopes

I've been practicing this build without them being aggressive and it hasn't felt bad. Convocation on left click helps keep them with you and shield charge does damage so the minions will inherently try to attack after you deal damage. If I feel like I really need the Aggressive golems I'll go for the primordial jewel. I'm not sure what the answer for that on SSF is though.

Possible, sure. But it's a lot less damage and worse defensively. If you really want access some of the elementalist stuff I would go necro and try to get a forbidden flesh/flame for +1 golem. Even then with phys copnverted to elemental builds Guardian outperforms due to the aura relics.

Also you can use the jewels to convert all the mages to do one damage. This with the replica covenant will be insane cold mages

Can i do this with all blue sockets in my triad grips i dont want to do dash(prefer flamedash) then i can go 4 blues but is that bad or good?

It's playable, but not as strong. Cold scales the best with the hatred aura relic and it also add another layer of defense with chill/freeze. If playing all blue you might have different lightning specific supports/curses that would scale the build better. P.S. I am also not a fan of using Dash, but it felt necessary to get more green sockets into the build.

Left click convo with the convo cdr mastery feels pretty good. All the charms, not sure on specifics yet, or what's even available, but it would be REALLY cool if we got +1 golem from elementalist. :)

Very interesting! I was planning on doing Absolution Guardian as a league starter (instead of SRS), mainly because I do not want to play Rolling Magma into Act 4. But this seems like it could be more powerful and definitely easier, because the Carrion Golems are always up. Would love to see a step-by-step POB, just because I am unclear on how soon to go for the golem nodes.

I did a practice run with this and had my tree setup to take the extra golem at around level 40. At that point I switched from absolution to carrion golem and felt really good. Basically you can switch to golems as your main skill whenever you get the golem commander node, and you can do that whenever it feels comfortable!.

@@firkzgaming tyty, I just modified your tree, starting with the Minion and Physical Damage nodes, then going up to Spiritual Command and Sacrifice, then right to Enduring Bond and Lord of the Dead. Then Left to Purity of Flesh wheels and Redemption. Then Right & up to Golem Commander. Looks like about Level 44. Looking forward to this! Ohh BTW, looks like when you eventually switch to a Convoking Wand, you can bench craft the Trigger mod, so that will be nice.

Trigger wand is very nice. Downside in this particular build is it moves a green socket (desecrate) out of gloves. So we get to a 50/50 cold/fire conversion. Still good! But I would prefer more cold, but the QoL trigger wand adds is sooo nice.

The new Carrion Golem of Hordes transfigured gem brings the default limit up from 1 to 3. Then 1 from the tree and 1 from clayshaper.

The buffs are not there in the "of Hordes" version unfortunately. I've still been finding pretty good success with the build overall though!

Yes, but the Vaal part is the same as the non-transfigured Vaal version.

It's worse for sure, but I don't think it's rip. I'm pretty interested in the Carrion Golem of Scavenging now though. Need details on how much damage "devastating" is. :)

The Carrion Golem attacks with a series of slashes that increase in speed and damage, can consume corpses to heal itself and gain the ability to unleash a devastating cascade of bone spikes, and deals more damage for each of your non-golem minions near it. @@firkzgaming hmm, that looks interesting

The elemental relics from Guardian are an insane damage increase on phys converted elemental damage. Way better than anything necro can offer.

I read it as if you could have a max of 3 golems, not +3 to max # of golems...

The gem set your default max golems to 3. The other items add +1 to maximum golems. This is the same way it work with the regular version of golem gems. The gem say max 1 and then the items +x to max.

Very cool build i love golems . 27k max hit with low armr or eva and not capped spell supress either , looks squishy. But good concept . I would have preferred atleast 60k + max hits though.

I league started a pretty similar defensive build last league and it didn't feel squishy. I know that I can't put the way a build "feels" into a PoB but it feels good to me. I also left a ton of open stat lines on gear, the defenses will only be better than what's listed in the PoB.

I believe the added phys will be removed, but would be surprised if the "More Golem Damage" line is taken away. That is not a buff that is "granted", it is just inherent to the golem. Would be disappointing if that's gone so we will see hopefully today!

It's not less damage. The relics are a greater than 50% more damage increase. Nothing replaces that on elementalist or necro in this build. I would play Necro though if I wasn't play elemental conversion minions. Pure phys is probably better on necro.

@@firkzgaming have you min-maxed it? I could not make it look as good as necro in pob last league, i have a 155mill uber dmg squire version with 30k armour and a 50mill uber dmg full tank setup with 30k armour evasion, full block aegis and suppress capped.
