Kansas was the group that sang this song. It was played a lot on the show Supernatural which just finished their 15th and final season. They did a great rendition of this song. Sam and Dean would love it. Rock on....lol. All silliness aside it was fantastic and I'm a Home Fry, and I agree with you Dennis....this should be the five. Happy New Year. Hope you have. a good one

Every time they release a song to Patreon and I listen to it countless times there already, I try to guess who of them arranged the cover and see if I guessed right when they release it officially and put all the credits in the description. And I'm so happy I guessed absolutely right once again, cause I knew this arrangement must be by Eli and Layne and it indeed is by them! Such a wonderful arrangement, I'm blown away! Eli also did the awesome lighting setup as he often does for their shoots... he and Omar really rocked this one, perfect song to end 2020 and start 2021 :)

Layne and Eli arranged this and they did an incredible job. This is classic 1970's rock by a band called Kansas (Kansas also did a ballad called 'Dust in the Wind' that you may know. It's been used on a ton of soundtracks.), and as many songs from that era are, the original is very electric guitar heavy. To have such a rockin' rendition done in acapella is insane. The lead vocals are all killer - especially Eli's - but I'm also impressed with how full the 'rhythm section' of Geoff and Layne sounded throughout.

The Billie one is a prequel to the Panic! one, so you should do that one first. It's my favorite thing they've ever done! (But in the Panic video they say "G** d***" a couple times, so that might make you not want to do it)

I was super happy to see your reaction so soon! Super fun. I'm someone who loves the original. I think VP rocked it out of the house. They killed everything about it. I honestly think I like this version slightly more than the original, which is saying something. I would also not be sad if they had Omar join the group. He's super talented and sounds really good with them. I know they said the reason they don't have Rachel as the 5th member is that she's based out of another state. I don't know where Omar is located, so that could be the hold up. Geoff said they're still working on getting their 5th, so we'll see. I imagine they'll choose well regardless! BTW, I like the blue and black background you got going behind you! Looks super sharp.

The original of this song by "Kansas" was one of my favorite songs growing up and VoicePlay absolutely nailed it! This has definitely shot right to the top of my favorite VP songs list. I agree with you Dennis that Omar would make a great addition to the group. He & Eli together would give them really strong tenor abilities. Omar is also friends with the guys already & lives in Florida I believe. I know a lot of people would love to see Rachel Potter join them & I love her as well but she lives in Nashville & is expecting a child so I don't see that happening. I also like the all male dynamic voice wise. Great reaction; I always love watching you & listening to your take on a song.

I think you really need to listen to the original from Kansas to truly appreciate how good this cover is! This is my favorite song from Kansas. I was worried that they did a cover. I didn't think they could do it. I was wrong. They killed it! There are instrumental solos in the middle of the original, and these guys did great to make those sounds believable. The harmonies are amazing. Geoff....oh man! 🐉

For the description of the last part you needed to hold your hand at the level of your knees. The bass started low and except for the short tempo/pitch change stayed low. Lexie Walker is also a former member of One Voice Children's Choir, like Savannah Shaw is. You should check out the Beauty and the Beast medley she does with BYU Vocal Point. The only complaint I have about it is that the opening part is too short. I would love to hear an entire song that sounded like that. Also check out Scott and Ryceejo. They are an amazing husband and wife A Capella group that layer their voices like Peter Hollens. They usually combine two Disney songs from different movies together in such a way that they sound like they are the same song. And speaking of Peter Hollens, you need to react to "Skyrim" with Lindsey Sterling. Peter does beat-boxing and bass in it, things he doesn't do very often.

I'm pretty much on the same page as you are when it comes to Omar. He's not going to replace Earl by any stretch of the imagination, but I think that he will do the group justice. I really feel like there's good chemistry and harmony there. So, just like J-None didn't come in as a replacement Tony, but instead as a singer in his own right, Omar could very comfortably shine along with the others in the group.

This song is a classic originally by the band Kansas, love their stuff. As an instrumentalist, I really appreciate their music especially because of all of the instrumental breakdowns. Their bass and guitar solos and rifts are super catchy and frozen in time. Voiceplay cut out a lot of the instrumentals which makes it a bit frustrating to listen to. But at the same time, I understand why the did that as the original is over 5 minutes long and they're a vocal group after all. Some of their stuff I can definitely compare to the original, but this is just too different for me to even begin to compare.
