The purpose of this joint venture might have been to steal all the Daimler Tech that BYD could steal. So these cars may have already served their purpose - and sale of cars was not important ...
@normandiebryant6989
@normandiebryant6989 Ай бұрын
Scamming the government was probably the bigger purpose. The subsidy was only available once proof-of-sale was provided to the government. I've read of some car makers setting up a subsidiary that bought all the cars so the parent could get the subsidy. They then removed all the mechanicals and the parent factory put them in a new car-body and sold it to their subsidiary again. Different VIN each time but mostly recycled mechanicals. Round and round until the music stopped.

Yep it was to steal subsidies and also technology from the West. Buisness people in the west have become traitors allowing our technology to get stolen for short term profits while the ceos get huge golden parachutes all our industries then leave or go bankrupt and many of our towns and villages lose all the work they could have and then all the money goes to immigrants instead of our own people.

This pretty much sums up the EV industry; producing EV’s in order to soak up government subsidies, registering them to boost EV “sales” figures and then dumping them into the landscape to waste away and pollute. Money is more important than the environment.

Exactly correct. All those cars were produced cuz the ccp and Xi said “go make electric cars! We’ll tell you when to stop.” Same with all the high rise luxury apartments that were built, with no buyers and no tenants; ccp says “build it and they will come”, sucking down resources and labor and trillions of yuan. The auto and real estate industries in China looked like they were booming, cuz of all the people employed, construction taking place, millions of cars produced etc. But then they have more apartments in China than people, millions of cars that no one can or wants to buy, so inventory just piles up like trash. Their economy is in a death spiral, no demand for the high end stuff being built, no money for the people cuz companies are laying off everyone, insufficient food for the population and crumbling shoddy infrastructure cuz everyone is corrupt and no one cares about quality. I don’t think Taiwan has too much to worry about right now….

@@kamsunleong6648 If only that was the only EV graveyard in China. Cars, share bikes, E bikes are ALL piled high with nothing to do but rot. Produced solely to gain a subsidy - not to be sold. Totally inefficient use of resources. No doubt they will be dumped in a developing country to kill any local industry.

Denza brand of EVs were originally sold through MB dealership, BYD was only responsible for manufacturing the EVs using their batteries and electronics for the JV. Since the sales of Denza EV did not met targets, BYD bought back most of MB shares in the JV in 2019 (BYD acquired MB final 10% in Sept 2024 and now owns 100% of Denza) and took complete control of the brand and created an independent dealership network. Now Denza is a very successful EV brand with best selling luxury EV MPV D9, and recently launched Z9GT. BTW, Those cars left in the bushes were without batteries and were auctioned off as scrap metals this year.

They clearly have not been sitting for 5 years yet, production started in 2020 , the prices were quite high and they were produced both as a BEV and a PHEV. The cars on paper looked good, interior was largely MB inspired, however, the cars as sold disappointed and sakes were low, in 2021 MB reduced its share of the JV from 50% down to 10% and the Denza X was dropped. It was considered a learning curve by both parties. MB then formed a partnership with Geely to develop the “Smart” brand in China. These cars are likely tail end 2021 production so just over 3 years old. Someone will probably buy them cheap and ship them to Africa or S E Asia.

This is CHINESE CAPITALISM. If this was 'socialism' these cars would belong to people, not to grass.

I'm not in favor of Communism, but isn't this "doing it wrong"..? There are a lot of Chinese people who can't afford cars, there are cars just sitting there, why wouldn't they give these cars away to people in rural areas along with a charging station for the village? We have more "Communism" in the United States, as far as things the government hands out to the people.

As I suspected these cars are siting with a dealer, the video says he bought them for CNY42m (about CNY52,500 each). In all probability he will try to export them as low cost EVs to Africa/SE Asia
