We use this to contextualise our Total War Campaigns and plot the best role-play opportunities as well as the best min/max strategy. Yes, especially for faction like carthage, their units roaster is not very straight forward to understand, and might even be counter-intuitive for many, until someone show you how they suppose to work. Take the round shield cavalry, stat wise, its worse than hastati, its got lesser number in the unit. How would you figure out while 1v1 its gonna lose to hastati, but 10v10, its heavily in favour of our light cavalry. You just use higher speed to zerg rush one side of their line. Even on the hight difficulty, hastati just melts when surrounded on three sides. But how would you know playing as carthage against rome, the bulk of your army should be this light 'weak' cavalry? Take the slingers, cos carthage dont have archers, unless you wanna count high tier elephant and mercenary when you get into greece. How would you know this again, this low attack low range unit is your weapon against anything your cavalry rush cannot handle? Becos for so many other faction, the normal generic slingers are just not good, they cannot stand behind spears and shoot, their stones fly too low, so would cause a lot more friendly fire than arrows. Becos the game doesnt tell you the slingers are the best range units out everything in the game when shooting at the back of enemy. Unless you seen it in action, you dont know this unit is like a machine gun that dont even cos friendly fire when they are shooting from behind.

I find Lugotorix very entertaining! Just...maybe not for the same reasons.... XD All joking aside, he seems like a nice guy, and while I would never take his advice on basically anything, I do wish he were still doing let's-play campaigns, because you never knew quite what to expect. I think the community can use both experts who can present excellent content like what we have here and regular guys having fun.

can't wait for the battlefield guide! A Pontus syrategy guide would be fun, especially dealing with possible role-play options

Generally, I think that any faction would work for this video, mainly due to the limited factions available to create (due to the engine) and the fact that because of this, CA was forced to pick the greatest and most influential cultures/empires of the classical age, unlike rome 2 which has millions (overstatement) of different tribes, city states and small kingdoms.

It’s actually pretty easy to avoid the brutii landing in africa if you take Messana on turn one. Take the army in sicily, put it on the boat and land it right next to Messana. You can either attack the city or the army next to it. It‘s not too tough to destroy both of the roman armies. I feel like the campaign is basically won already because the scipii won‘t recover from this and the brutii usually send a rather big force of hastati with one or two generals which is also not too tough to destroy. Then you can easily move to italy and destroy the brutii.

Great Guide! I'd play super aggressive with Carthage and attack Scipii immediately and move the governor and infantry in Carlis near the port where Julii will drop 2 units on very hard. Also you have 3 birimes to start that can be combined after you drop off your units in Sicily from Carthage. You can sink the Scipii fleet after you let the family member on leaving only the faction leader left for the Scipii. You start out with one of the best economies in the game...hire mercenaries as you move up Spain. Ally with Gaul until Spain is done and back stab and take the Gaulic capital and just push for Rome on two sides. The Brutii will attack Syracuse instead of Apollona if you can take Messia in the first turn

Aggressive tactics are pretty much always the optimal in Rome. I like to try and find ways to slow down the pursuit of victory whilst not leaving myself with too much to do. I like your envelopment tactic though! Nice plan!
