WHAT IF Goku KILLED Supreme Kai in the Buu Saga? | Dragon Ball Z

What If Supreme Kai didn't back down when Goku threatened to blast him?

In the Buu Saga of Dragon Ball Z, Vegeta famously allowed Babidi to control him in order to fight Goku. However, before the battle between the two Saiyans could happen, Supreme Kai steps in between Goku and Vegeta - clearly making the statement that this fight was not worth the revival of Majin Buu. Instead of backing down though, Goku raises his arm and charges a Ki blast - ready to kill the Lord of Lords if he has to. Even Vegeta is taken aback by this action, and in the original, Shin can see that Goku is serious so he backs down. In this Dragon Ball What If I ask the question, what would happen if Shin didn’t back down? What if Goku went through with it and Killed the Supreme Kai. Well, Goku fires off the blast and kills Shin in a single blast - removing him from the battlefield and allowing Vegeta to fight. Gohan can’t believe what his father has done, but Goku tells Gohan they’ll bring him back to life later. For now, Vegeta and Buu are the biggest threats on the planet. Goku tells Babidi to teleport them to a deserted location and he tells Gohan to finish off Dabura and Babidi. Before Gohan can blast open the ship, Babidi lets him in. The battles that will define the Buu Saga are about to happen.

If Frieza hadn't been revived, Goku wouldn't have suggested he be brought back for the ToP since they never saw his golden form, and he wouldn't have had enough time to train to get it. They would be more likely to revive Cell or have the strongest off-world fighter to be brought to them via the dragonballs or Whis, which would most likely be Broly.

I don't think Goku intended to kill him with that ki blast. Knock him out, maybe. But obliterate him? That's a wee bit out of character. Honestly having seen everything he believed about his father shaken to it's core, Gohan would have went into a rage taken matters into his own hands. That being said... That brings up a huge question. If Shin or Beerus die... Do they end up in Otherworld with a body? Do other universes have Otherworld? I wonder what Zeno's rules on that are.

Shit even as a toddler, even if buu was stronger, if he ever pissed him off, even buu would be done for because Gohan as a ssj2 was letting out so much anger without ever holding back. He was so mad that even a super perfect cell with zenkai boosts could even struggle with a 50% Gohan. Even gohan as just a 4 year old with 0 training had a powerlevevl of 1200+ meaning Gohan could actually theoretically have more potential than broly even with guru unlocking more of his potential. He as a child he nearly shat on 2nd form Frieza while enraged. Unfortunately we don't see that anymore because the plot really had to nerf Gohan. Even when Goku told Gohan to take advantage of his power by using his anger, Gohan really couldn't get angry.

Maybe the "inactive" part is like losing a job to the angels. It's not like they're going to die/sleep/weakened when their GoD dies as we have seen in the ToP. I always thought Goku would just knockout the Supreme Kai or leave him incapacitated, but not kill him. Goku isn't a cold blooded killer like majin vegeta. Things would change going forward, because their power would be significantly greater. Learning SSG before that BOG ARC is a huge difference, especially with Gohan also learning it. Because they'd be so far ahead, defeating Goku Black would have been easier, especially if Gohan went along. Then the TOP would have faired differently with 3 SSB than just Goku and Vegeta. Probably see Gohan break his limits too. The stories would have a shift.

In the Zamasu arc, Shin said that if a Destroyer and their Supreme Kai die, the angel attendant basically falls into a coma until a new Supreme Kai and Destroyer are appointed, hence why Future Whis never stepped in and took care of Zamasu, since the Anti-interference Angel laws wouldn’t apply to how big a threat Zamasu is. Also, If Frieza never got his power-up and Buu stayed dead, who would they get for their tenth person for the Tournament Of Power? Maybe Cell or Pikkon, maybe even have the Galactic Patrol make a plea deal with Moro?

I think beerus could have been hit by the candy beam. It makes more sense for Evil buu to have been prepared for it and for him to have been able to react and blow it back. But Beerus should have been surprised, and caught off guard. He might be able to dodge anyway, but he also might try to block. If he doesn't react in time, or he tries to block, he gets hit and turned into candy. But like, Vegito was fine when he was turned into candy, and I think beerus would likely be okay too, for all the same reasons.

If you think about it, in all of the events during the Buu saga where Supreme Kai is constantly in danger from being killed off by vastly more powerful opponents, very irresponsible of Beerus and Whis not to interfere. Considering Supreme Kai and their Destruction Deity counterparts are connected and both die if one does, you'd think they'd be more protective of Supreme Kai. That concept was of course written in when DBS was made, and kind of a pointless one at that. In DBS I don't recall very often at all where Supreme Kai was in danger. So why create a Plot hole for Z when you don't have to?

I think Super made it very clear that Beerus is incredibly irresponsible and bad at his job. I highly doubt that the purpose of a God of Destruction is to sleep for a million years, wake up, destroy some of the only planets with sentient life in the Universe, and then go back to sleep. Him not keeping a careful eye on the Supreme Kai, even for his own protection, is very in-character for him.

Beerus getting off due to just sheer dumb luck, feels very in character ...also, just like this what if shows, the tension is still minimal as if Shin had died, him and Beerus woulda been revived with the Dragon Balls. And yeah that is how it should work, considering Kami and Piccolo, another life link, worked like that in the namek saga.
