I love Battle Royale! But we'll never see a film like that here in the US. American audiences aren't ready for that kind of ultra violence.

i just saw hunger games too on sunday and i think that it was heart pounding because of the action and deaths

Yeah, I can see how you saw it like that. Some of the scenes were very brief and only hinted at what was much more profound in the books. They took a few shortcuts by skipping tiny plot points. Now I'd like to say that, I would really, really, really, really, really like it if you were to read the books and tell us what you think.

I never read the books and saw the movie last night.. I thought it was kinda predicable, but still was pretty good

I haven't seen it but I read the book and honestly the trailer falsely sells it. Well actually even the hype and reviews falsely sell the books. The Hunger Games is actually a love story about of a mature and very independent heroine, Katniss; and learning that it's okay to need someone else. In addition to this she is the revolutionary face that has to take down the Capitol. My review is on my tumblr if people want to read it before reading it or seeing it. dracokiro on tumblr

Yeah...I have to agree with Evan. Even though I like the movies, it's ONLY because I read the books. Hunger Games just isn't very interesting if you don't know the source material.

My mum says i need to read real books more not comic books , so she took me to the book shop and told me to pick out a book to read. I had heard of hunger games and seen all the hype about it and people telling me it was great, read it and was slightly disturbed that it was kids being forced to kill each other it was meh i guess wouldnt recomend it though.

Gotta read the book first man to really enjoy the movie. But, I kind of got to agree with you. If I would have came in without reading the series first, I probably wouldn't have liked it as much.

Shouldn't a movie be good anyway without knowing or reading the source material? We watched The Wizard of Oz before we read the book (hell we didn't even know that it was a book at the first place, and if you did I'm impressed), and the movie had a clear plot.

okay, what exactly are the Hunger Games about exactly the people I know tell me is that its like Battle Royale but I'm not convinced (especially having read the manga) and frankly it doesn't sound too appealing in terms of entertainment.Overall I keep hearing how its a good idea but mainly a disappointment as it focuses on unnecessary things, and I'm referring both book and movie

It was okay but it was too damn long! SHEESH, 2 hours and a half! They also left out things form the book, and panned the camera out whenever there was a fight scene, not really showing the gore.
