I'm looking into buying one as mostly a daily driver, what was your experience owning one?
@hxsm80902 ай бұрын
@@thebigboybossy4232 i currently own one, and have been for the last 14 years. Its a fuel guzzler compared to a modern car. 40l tank last about 400~km. Maintenance is relatively low. Had it at from 100k km, my odo right now is 1.2 million km, with port and polish done once just to clean those gunk because i noticed its not as it used to be. You can call it top overhaul. Im not heavy on paddle. Only a few pulls once in a while. Usually 120-140kmh on highway. Problem ive had so far : Driver power window. Replaced twice. Rear power window no longer functioning Port and polish at around 800k km. Broken intercooler spray (never used it) Distributor replaced once, along with cable Clutch replaced once Replaced suspension twice In 2022, i replaced all the arm and bushings. Its fine to drive but its not as comfortable as it used to. Cost me $100 to buy everything (lower, upper, both front and rear, and rear sway bar)

@@hxsm8090 Wow thanks for the owner review, couldn't have asked for a better response. Although its been 4 years since I first posted that comment, owning an early lan-evo still on my bucket list. Cheers

Lovely car, old 4G's are the best!

I had no idea the active differentials were period correct to a Group A Evo III from the mid 90s! I thought the active diff and sequential boxes weren't standard until full WRC spec cars came around between 1996-97! Impressive.
@TFritz826 жыл бұрын
Nevermind, the Evo III would have reached the peak of it's development throughout the '96 season right as the IV was coming out.

Always wondered what exhaust diameter these early/mid 90s Group A spec rally cars were limited to? Per FIA rules of course...

What is the lines going to the cam angle sensor for?
@Liamv46963 жыл бұрын
Power steering pump is mounted to the end of the cam on the rally cars. Those are the hydraulic lines.

What kind of fuel did he say the car was running at 2:28? Elf?
@BFMR10629 жыл бұрын
Yep Elf WRF (world rally fuel) I ran it in my Evo 1 for 5 rallys when I had some sponsorship hellp, literally liquid horspower, was about 185kw at the wheels on Elf whith a 34mm intake restriction, sane engine and restrictions on pump fuel (BP 98) was 156kw at the wheels
@corporalwaffles9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the explanation :) I found this document (www.elfcompetition.com/produits/CS23259_uk.pdf) that says its about 101.4 RON or 95 RON+MON/2 (North america fuel scale). Surprising how a tiny bit of extra octane can do to the performance. Any idea how it compares to Sunoco fuels? Perhaps Super 260GT for comparison - www.racegas.com/fuel/20
@BFMR10629 жыл бұрын
corporalwaffles not sure but as for the RON number it not just the RON number its all the other chemical goodys going on in the fuel that dose the work, when runing on WRF not only could I run more boost ezyer but the big thing was runing way more spark timing whith no pinging :)

is it true this EVO 3 is basically a 2g Eclipse GSX with 4 doors?
@theeaglestalon25886 жыл бұрын
265308 basically. Since Mitsubishi couldn't import the Evo 3 and all other evos before the 8(not sure of the 7 was legal in the u.s) they used the eclipse, talon and laser with partnership with Chrysler to make sales in the u.s giving the eclipse, talon and laser the 4g63t motor along with the awd components.

Yes the car was equipped with ALS in the engine and ECU but they most likely disabled it in the video. Most WRC cars from the late 80's had a switch on the dash for the driver to decide if they wanted it mild, intermediate or aggressive and completely off. Hope my two cents helped
