Got a neighbour with a D5 Volvo V70 with 275,000 miles on it. Has a full sheet of advisories every year and he gets it all done. Says it's cheaper than buying a new one and losing it in depreciation. Had it since new.

There comes a Time when you're throwing good money after bad, might be time for him to check out a few similar aged V70, for sale on Websites with much Lover mileages and pull up their MOT Histories off the GOV UK website and then scrolling through those older History records t he could well find a well cared for, Diamond in the Rough....

The rarest car there was that Volvo estate. Blimey, it must be over 25 years since I saw a car driven in and then sell for £50 at auction. The auctioneer always used to say "It goes to the top of the pile" because they were always bought by the local scrap dealers. The auction's fee's are probably a lot more these days though, compared to the final bid.

They've took over the car game, particularly the last 20 years, they are all car flippers, luckily you can spot their setups on auto trader, brash, tacky bling signage and office etc. I remember when we used to go to Bawtry every week in the 90s and it was a social meet, a trip out, everyone knew each other, all old school dealers, there was one old boy in a trench coat, right scruffy but down to earth, he'd be stopping cars on his own and be all over them, then waving them on, proper old school dealer, long gone 👍

Hi Lee. Everytime you say that Qashqais with a 1.2 engines are no good, it worries me because I have one. So I did some research, and it turns out that the effected cars are 2015 and older with certain engine batch numbers. These batch numbers have been published. (mine is 2017 one of the last).They had badly fitting pistons which was subsequently rectified. Newer ones especially if they have software upgrades are Ok. Would be nice if you could make this clear to stop worrying us all. Ta.

I think we've been spoilt by the big G3 Auction with the two lanes where you can still hide in the doorways. But better for the traders to be able to see motors go through the bidding and be able to see/smell the other possibles come in the hall at the same time. Nissan 1.2's - are they ok in the older Micra's and Note's as Chops rates them? I had a 15 plate 1.2 turbo Juke as my last company car and it had its share of engine issues - burned oil - turbo issue and head gasket

The older non turbo 1.2 is fine as chop and I buy in micra note etc, its the later 1.2 turbo unit used in juke Qashqai and other Renault products that suffer with the issues you experienced

Hi Lee i have been using Vehicle Score awile now. Some cars show up a reading of 999. If that was a new car fair enough but if its a 10 year old car thats something different. Buying black cars in the rain is brave, and then not looking at them properly is super brave. January thru to March prices thru the roof ,then the price drop begins .You buy all your old stock in Jan, Feb, and March, and you sell them all with a lost in April onwards. The market hasn't changed in 30 years.

I would not buy the 4.2 buy the 4.7 the early engines suffered with dephaser cam pully issues. Also avoid the MC shift models as the F1 box is expensive and needs clutches every 10k. The Standard Autobox is great no issues and fitted to many other vehicles of that era

I will buy auto just not Nissan or Ford Auto. Sadly most autos are really expensive to buy and lots of competition so I struggle to get them. As for Renault TCE 900c is ok its the early 1.2 TCE engine I don't like.
