One thing we forgot to mention in this video is if you have a point roundover tool, then the Inner Diameter needs to be changed to 0, or whatever the flat is on the tip.

Thanks for the clarification. I bought a bit like this (point roundover tool) for rounding over edges. I haven't used it yet, but I was thinking doing the profile toolpath along the vector. I thought it would work correctly, but now I'm not so sure. Will this tool be the exception to where I can use the along vector toolpath?
@Carveco2 жыл бұрын
@@gizmobowen It should work fine on an along Profile toolpath since there is no offset involved.

Do you have a tutorial that explains the "Independent Finish Depth", the "Allowance:" and the "Final Tool Allowance" while creating a Area Clearance toolpath?
@Carveco2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lonnie. Take a look at this video (towards the end) - learn.carveco.com/toolpaths-and-machining/area-clearance/ The "Independent Depth Finish" will allow you to enter a specific depth for that particular tool, which can be smaller or larger than the finish depth specified.

Hi, please can I ask...if a just wanted to cut a pocket across one line and limited to the diameter of the endmill (2mm dia) can I just draw a single line that the cnc will cut along or do I need to close the vector I.e. draw a narrow rectangle (length whatever vs 2mm width) so the machine Cuts inside the rectangle? I need to draw and cut out a spiral shape (2mm cut leaving a 2mm wall inbetween)
@Carveco2 жыл бұрын
Hi Luke. Yes, just draw a single line and using the Profile toolpath, set it to machine "Along" the line.

Thank you so much for your response...is there an easy way to draw a spiral...I.e. is there a coil or spiral button please?
@Carveco2 жыл бұрын
@@lukebrown6913 Not a problem. There isn't a one click tool unfortunately. There are a couple of ways to do it, probably best to contact support@carveco.com. But, have a look at this old ArtCAM video (sorry about the quality, it's not ours!) where the spiral toolpath is used as a guide - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYfOioqtd52roa8

Surely the stepdown when creating the tool should be the same as the radius so you get a perfect round-over, from experience its better to be very slightly less especially if the material is not perfectly flat on the top or your spindle is not perfectly trammed, say 6.2mm.

I am a machinist and work with metal and plastics. With standard round over tools I have always programmed for the center diameter of the tool and the Z depth. Couldn't you do the same thing with Carveco by just using a straight end mill tool description?
@Carveco2 жыл бұрын
Hi Billy, you could do if it was a point tip roundover and go along when doing a Profile toolpath. If it has a flat though, you'd have to offset every time you use it.

Hi, You are really a brilliant "teacher". However, I have a question: Is it really so that you cannot move/copy a toolpath in Carveco Maker? Regards Lars
@Carveco2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lars. Thank you very much. If you update to 1.30 you will be able to copy a toolpath.
@larsrolver50962 жыл бұрын
@@Carveco Thanks for your answer. I already have version 1.3. Copying a toolpath, the new toolpath will just be sitting on top of the first one, from where it cannot be moved. My scenario is that I have 20 different toolpaths and then want to rearange them in order to optimise the use of the sheet. I conclude that I have to upgrade to the Plus version.
@Carveco2 жыл бұрын
@@larsrolver5096 Not a problem. You should be able to rearrange them into what order that you like by left clicking and holding down on a toolpath and then dragging to where you want it to be.
