I have been grinding out bowls for some time now! It definitely makes a big mess and when you get down to the finer toothed discs its the dust that goes everywhere. I haven’t used Arborteck yet but might look into it. Nice work by the way!

I’d eventually like to do something like this to make “bathroom sinks” for my off grid cabin.... but I have to finish the cabin shell first...

Lovely. I cut down a tree for firewood today, and some of it has some pretty spalt like that. Very tempted to do something better with it than to burn it. Thank you for the additional inspiration.

Hey. I’m gonna try that ..Question. What kind of wood ? And does it have to be dead wood ? Green may crack when drying? Thanks again. Craig. Pa.
@DIYwithUncleCy4 жыл бұрын
I am not 100% sure of the wood. It is heavily spalted as you can tell. I think it was Magnolia, but again not sure.
@AggresivelyBenign2 жыл бұрын
A lot of wood turners I know start with green wood and turn the basic shape but don’t finish it. Then they put the piece in a paper bag with some wax or something so it doesn’t crack and finish it when it’s completely dry so they don’t end up with cracks

@@AggresivelyBenign thank you so much , I have green walnut,my first bowl cracked . With your suggestion I’m starting a bowl tomorrow. Thanks 🙏 Craig Pa.

Where do we find the WORX clamping sawhorse? I have looked on there web sites but no luck finding the one you are using. Please give us a clue !
@DIYwithUncleCy9 ай бұрын
I bought mine at Menards. I just checked their website and looks like they stopped carrying it. But if you search Jaw Horse on amazon they have many versions.

Nice!! Wonder model of WORX bench you are using? Can't seem to locate anything like it on line.
Looks good to me, but I also think you would enjoy a electric hand planer also.

Doing better. It has taken some time for my body to adjust to the blood thinners. Between that and Slb orders I have been a bit lax on getting videos up. Merry Christmas to you too.

What species of tree is that?
@DIYwithUncleCy4 жыл бұрын
I think it was Magnolia. Its been here for about 2 years laying in an area that I kept my spalting stock.

Far safer than a lancelot disc. Trust me I took part of a finger off with one of those things. Have never had the kickback or loss of control from the Arbortech products.
