Those carving disks are interesting, and certainly a decent option for places that don't have a lathe. That being said, you need to try making a bowl with a bowl adze, carpenter's hatchet and cabinet scraper sometime. A friend of mine who used to do living history demonstrations at frontier museums and the like made some gorgeous bowls with those three tools. Kinda peaceful and satisfying. Edit: KZbin has been punishing longer format content creators by shoving the short format stuff down our throats in order to compete with TikTok. We appreciate you, Mr. Humphrey. Upload whenever you want, I for one, will be sticking around.

Thank you Pete! I've actually done just that in the past. I've got a very nice adze and a great collection of high quality carving chisels. Fun and challenging for sure. I love me some power tools too though, lol!

Welcome back! Them carving discs are aggressive and slick. That bowl looks like it would make for a great Planter. Say for on a porch. Also need to tell you, when ripping a log in half. Better to cut with the grain than down thru it. You will find it to be much more chain saw friendly. Instead of throwing dust, you will throw shreds and get thru it much faster. A lot easier on the chain, bar, and you, you will notice!
@RHumphrey
@RHumphrey Жыл бұрын
Thanks very much! You're right about that. The problem is that the battery powered chainsaw I was using clogs too easy and often with the shreds. If I was using a gas powered I'd have gone that route. Good info to share though, thanks, my friend!

Great job Rod. I love the graffiti carving disc. I want to make a long bread dish… these would help a lot. Thanks for all you do… all you’ve done for us.

I have been looking at carving disks lately but most seem to be such a small diameter. Thanks for showing this one

Beautiful bowl Rod I made my mother a cedar bowl with my dremel tool and carving bits and a couple of files, it looked similar to this one but a little smaller! You can make anything if you set your mind to finding a way to get it done!

Very good to see you working something again. Missed your voice and good cheer. As others said below, this does look like a good rustic bead dough bowl. If MY cat got close to it, it would become her napping bowl 😉 A bowl for a cat loaf for both definitions of the word!
