Carving a Viking | Pagan | Heathen | Ragnar | Floky | Norse | Gods | Wotan | Odin | Thor | Mythology

A Viking I carved while I was on holidays for Christmas. The wood is a piece of dry Birch I got for fire, but I chose give it live.
I took couple hours per three days to finish it. No rush, just enjoying the sound of the wood and the smell of my workshop/basement.

Gouges I used:
- My favorites, is a cheap set that doesn't have brand.
- Narex.
- Flexcut.
- Ramelson (mini gouges)
Knife:
Cape Forge (I highly recommend it)

The vise is a pipe connection I did, nothing complicated.
The water solution is coffee beans and vinegar, I made a big container and it is good for highlight the reliefs and also as finish paint. The bad thing, the vinegar smell around couple days until disappear, but only whether you touch your nose to the wood and breath deeply.

@@leongodhania1335 It is a big container I did 3 years ago, it contains coffee beans, vinegar, scotch-brite mild steel wool. You want dark color? add more coffee beans.

@@2Beavers - i startedcarving in Oct - done 75 or so so far but mostly little people and such - i was jus commenting on the larger carving tools you are using and how i wud have to up grade from my lil ones -- onna these days thanks

What type of wood is The one you use?

This is white birch. I find this wood in Home Depot USA, they sell it as firewood, generally you can find it close the garden session.
