@@Vsmithpots 53.6F today at 12:02 on a gentle May bank holiday here in Cornwall. Working hard (hardish) for Open Studios which is a nationwide week long event starts on Friday of the last weekend in May through to Sunday of the first weekend in June. Artists and makers open their work spaces to the public, of course this hasn’t happened for past two years, along with other cancelled events including exhibitions. So I am a very happy potter. I’m looking forward to your next video - any excuse to stop for coffee and a toasted tea cake. All the best, Susy

@@susyward581 Good luck with sales, it seems this year will be some what normal so you should do well. Spring sales seem positive so far. Platters next and then ceramic frames.

I'm glad Diamond Core Tools reached out to you Vaughan and you accepted. They are wonderful tools! My latest purchase is the FP 6. It's another great tool. My hands are arthritic so I really appreciate a sharp tool and their padded handles. On around time stamp 30:30 you showed using your left arm as a cushion to raise your right arm. May I suggest you purchase a pool noodle. I think you might find them useful to raise your arm off and away from your tile. You would put them on your work board or table and rest your forearm on it. Thank you for another GREAT VIDEO and sharing your artwork with us!!!!

That is a good idea, I sometimes use a thick sponge. I just carved 6 x12 inch tiles over the last 3 days with the new tools and my hands are fine, not the same for my back. Time to get the back massager out. Thanks

Hi Vaughan! Your sgraffito work is amazing! I love watching you carve. I have tried the Diamond Core tools too. I agree with you that they are very sharp, leave no burs and they stay sharp. The only thing I don't like so much about them is that they wear out really fast. I do mostly sgraffito and they don't last as long as for instance Dolan tools. They become thin fast. But the sharpness and the shapes are great! Looking forward to your next sgraffito video! Grtz, Monique

Thanks, I like your work, it looks tropical around you. I can see the sgraffito tools are an important part of your arsenal. I carved an almost dry 12inch tile yesterday and was very grateful for the DCT sharpness. I have some Xiem tools that are more durable but I have to press hard to make them cut through the clay. I have not tried Dolan Sgraffito tools, just the trimming tools.

@@Vsmithpots thank you for your response! Yes, it looks tropical here on Bonaire. In reality it is subtropical, dryer than tropical but still awesome to be able to work outside every day. I am going to try the Xiem tools soon, I have ordered them. I have also made my own tools with staples, works well but not as good as the DC or Dolan. I like both the trimming and carving tools by Dolan. I also use Kemper tools now and then. If I can I will invest in Bizen, someday.... 😃 Happy potting!

Beautiful work. You might see if they (Diamond Core tools) would send you there scraffitto tools to try. I think you would love them. Various shapes of diamond embedded heads that draw cleanly and are much more like drawing with pencils. You can make them yourself too with the dremel type bits. You work is fabulous and love the videos.

You sure are the best person I could think of to try these out and get an opinion about them!! Your work is so absolutely incredible. Thank you so much for your honest opinion. I think they are too expensive and since they don’t last that long it’s really ridiculous. But I know you do alot of scraffito so it’s probably worth it for you.
@Vsmithpots

Thanks Michele, I agree about the expense side but I have a lot of tools from different suppliers and these are better in many ways. I just carved 6 12inch tiles with the three of my favourites from DCT. I seem to have accomplished them faster by a considerable amount. Durability is still to be determined.

Such great pieces, and I love Diamond core tools. I especially love their trimming tools (T3 and T8) for wheel thrown pots. You mentioned a slip recipe for drier greenware. Are you able to share that? It would be so appreciated. Thank you for so many excellent videos and cheers from Ottawa.
