Hello, Mr. Wizard. This is my first time on your channel. I really enjoyed this video. I just purchased my first FJ Cruiser 2 weeks ago. It has 220,000 miles. I wanted to start off right so I took it into Toyota and had them change ALL the fluids, a new lifetime battery, new plugs, 4- wheel alignment, rear wiper, and fix a tiny crack in the windshield. I have no rust underneath either, so I'm hoping to get many more miles out of this unique looking vehicle. I hope yours gives you many years of enjoyment. Keep us posted.

Great choice! Kinda strange that the FJ did not sell particularly well in its day. Now out of production, they are more sought after than when new. One humble suggestion: Michelin Defender LTX M&S. It started selling in 07. Remember that by 09 the economy had collapsed. Fuel was nearing 5$/gal and a gas guzzler like the FJ was expensive to keep fed. Sales ended in the USA in 14 but continued till 18 in Australia and 22 in the middle east, the last 1000 being special editions. I think if Toyota had kept the car in the US just 2 or 3 years more sales would have been back to the 07/08 numbers @ 50K or so units per year looking at the Wrangler and the Bronco's popularity. The FJ died of bad timing not because it wasn't popular. An affordable, excellent quality, capable vehicle will always have a market.

Those 2 vehicles share a lot of powertrain like the 4.0 engine. I hope to get 300K miles out of my 4 runner. I almost bought a brand new 2010 FJ cruiser. They were about $32K brand new base model then and you had to order one and wait for it from Japan. .....Like an idiot, I couldnt wait and bought something else. 🙄

To eliminate most of the blind spots you need to set the mirrors as far out as they will go and center the rear view mirror. You will notice that you will be able to see the vehicles in your blindspot without having to turn head very much. I guarantee it. It may seem odd at first because we are so used to seeing the sides of our vehicle. One important thing to remember and this is very important is not rely on the view when you are in curve such on or off a ramp.

Thank God for an awesome mechanic and he fixed it but now it is leaking coolant 😅😅 lol. So the wizard knows exactly what he is talking about. Still love my GTI though 😉.

After the Car Wizard bought the FJ Cruiser from EuroAsian Bob, he will definitely do a buy this, not that video for Toyota, because the theme for this one will be focused on excessive oil consumption, which is seen on the mid-2000's models with the 2.4 L four-cylinder engine, as well as the early-1990's to early-2000's model with the 3 L V6 engine. It will be interesting for most of the public.

I think you're outside the salt belt but I would still STRONGLY recommend fluid filming the frame, especially the inside, regularly. I love mine despite the work I've had to put in to saving the frame. Get compliments from strangers all the time. FYI, they made them for overseas markets way after 2014. The windshield in my 2012 FJ is wrecked right now. Rock thrown from state highway maintenance truck's tire would have come straight through if it hadn't hit partially on the cab post. I bought my '07 FJ on April Fool's day 2006 (just about a week after they came out). It will have just under 170K miles by its 17th anniversary. There was a six week waiting list, and they only had two 6 speed manual cars on the lot. The sales rep said that he could have sold the one I test drove ten times that day, had it been automatic. After telling him that I didn't drive automatic, he sold me the car (for full list) on the spot. That impulsive decision earned me Toyota's gift to the first 50,000 buyers, a detailed scale model of the car (in the same color as mine). I have also thoroughly enjoyed the ride I found so impressive. The six speed model is AWD, and sticks to the road like glue. There is no feeling of impending doom taking curves at reasonable highway speeds without braking. I also avoided the transmission bug that hit early model first year automatics. The gas mileage and the rear visibility are both poor, but I'm still in for the long haul (ju$t replaced the exhau$t $y$tem with it$ dual pipe$ and catalytic converter$).

The FJ cruiser actually started life as a concept car and the concept was so popular it made production, they were still available new after 2014 for the Japanese market. It shares a platform with the 4Runner. Front and rear suspension is the same, drivetrain is the same, only major difference is the wheelbase, and the optional V8 only available on 4Runner. I don’t really care for the quirky blocky styling of the FJ cruiser though.
