Thank you ❤ and this is so true! We have a 2019 Allure Premium 5008. We raplaced the t chain at 60k. Now it has steering rack issue will cost a fortune. There are rumors for ac issue and oil burning issue at 100k thank god we get rid of that last week. Because of these we had to sold it for a bit lower price (80k usd) as much as I love it I don't have any feeling towards being sold because of the issues there were times I cried when selling our cars. One of the most unreliable brands I've ever seen! Just tech and looks, sho shame...
@irisfailsafeАй бұрын
It’s the 1.2 pure tech engine. The chain was put inside the engine so it is inside the oil. However the engine has a design flaw where gasoline gets mixed and that destroys the belt. It’s especially bad if the car doesn’t move for a long time. This is for all cars with that engine so count Citroens and Vauxhall as well.
@mcrizla23Ай бұрын
All well and good but stellantis has gone back to the timing chain in their new engines from 2024 and onwards - also I have owned two belt in oil engines by Peugeot/Citroen. First was a eb2adtd which done 118547 miles and next car had EB2DTS engine at 74211 (current car ) neither timing belts as much as even showing hairline cracking of the belt when viewed from the oil filler cap. The problem is when owners see 0w30 or 5w30 as the required engine oil and don't ensure the correct specification of that viscosity is used.... The required specs have additives in the oil that keeps the belt in good health. Using any other oil does (and definitely extended /lack of oil change intervals doesn't help. The belt in oil is not inhertantly a flawed design and when maintained is adhered to EXACTLY you won't have issues. Unfortunately the engineers who designed this belt in oil system are expecting far too much from the average owner to do what their lab tests want you to do - any minor deviation can cause massive problems. I would never buy second hand for this reason with a belt in oil engine- simply too many risks in improper maintainance
@florinstefanitaudrea8271Ай бұрын
@@irisfailsafe stop with the false information. The 1.2 hybrid engine has nothing to do with the old 1.2 puretech one, it's completely new and has a chain, not BELT (what you wanted to say). On top of that, the old 1.2 puretech engine was a failure for the cars that haven't been maintained properly. I've had more than 150k kms on 2 1.2 puretech engines and no issues at all.

It's odd that people can't disconnect the value of an item with its brand. You could write "Porsche" on a donkey's arsehole and people would pay more for that, than they would for a 100kg of pure gold with a Fiat badge on it. Brand can be a good indicator of quality, of course, but brand quality changes a lot people than people's bias. Hence "German reliability" is so ingrained as a positive trait, particularly into the British psyche, when statistically they're mostly well below average in that regard. I've picked Porsche and German reliability carefully there, since I spent the last 3 years daily driving a Porsche so it's fair to say I'm not biased against them (or I wouldn't have test driven another one last month!).

The interior is like that, but the exterior seems to fit a standard 2024 design that you see in loads of cars (esp EV's) of this era. You know how you can tell a car by the era. Actually peugeot touch bar with icons below is a very GOOD idea. Physical buttons may have a better feedback, but this touch icon bar is customizable, and this is a great thing, because eveyone uses a car differently. You can have a heated steering wheel button next to a button that launches some virtual functions (like android auto). Plus those icons are large, so them being touch is not that much of a problem. In my opinion separating icons from main touch screen is a great idea, especially if they are customizable. Also, notice that this touch bar is a bit angled, making it easier to precisely touch when driving on a bumpy road.

Good luck, you're replacing one bucket with another one. That Skyactive G is one of the worst engines ever made, not for reliability, but for performance. You'll feel like driving a car with 100hp max, it's dead, yet loud and very thirsty. Even a small Mazda 3 with 150hp skyactive G feels slower than a 130hp Peugeot 3008 1.2, which is a much bigger car. Also, 1.2 was fixed, new versions have a chain, not a belt.

That car would have been better as a MPV with shorter bonnet and cab forward, and longer boot area to help with luggage space with the rear most seats in use. They would probably be down most of the time. I personally find SUVs not as space efficient, compared with estates and MPVs. Lack of physical buttons for some of the controls is a no and possibly distracting when driving, especially the climate and heating!
