Tickets don’t start at $2000. The LH44 3 day tickets for the West Harmon Zone were $700. That’s grand stand seating. GA tickets for 3 days were $500. Maybe 3 day Main straight Grandstand tickets were $2000. That will probably drop because they aren’t selling out 3 day tickets. The main grandstands weren’t even full for qualifying last night. They’ll be full for the race because of single day purchases. F1 has to get the hotels on board though. They were much better this year but F1 can’t impose fees on hotels with track views. You’d be surprised by how many people are here that didn’t even know the race was happening. That’s an indication the hotels did a better job.

What is so unfortunate about Las Vegas, it is not so much about the race but what happens around it (at least last year) such as the glamour happening. The stars and other famous people that you normally never see at F1 are really squeezed out here. And that it is not affordable for the average person to watch it in person and everything is blocked on bridges etc. as is possible like in Monaco, that is what you get when you race on a street circuit. And then those exorbitant prices...... .. As many say it is more a show issue and for the elite than that it is about the race.

I'll be honest and say here that there is nothing more off putting than the bobastic over the top irellevant crap we saw last year. Laaaast year the F1 Event as a whole was nothing more than a side show, a necessary evil to have so that we can showpiece Las Vegas and the supercilious "celebrities" who are there for nothing else but to inflate their already over inflated egoes. Seriously, F1 could have done a considerably better job in Las Vegas with the amount of money they spent, and could have had a dedicated legacy track, meeting every sustainability parameter they set themselves and set the new norm for F1 as a whole. Their circuit could then have done MotoGP, Indy Series, F2 and F3 and a host of other categories like IMSA or WEC too. The current circuit is a lame duck flat track, abhorrently expensive and phenominally expensive .... barricading, closing off, gantry set up and removal, shutting down .... disruption all round that disrupts everything. Sustainability could have been assured by dedicated rail infrastructure for not only the fans but equally, every team too. Hubs from the Airport and from city center would link the track directly.

As you know, when you get off on the wrong foot like Vegas did last year, it takes a lot of work to change people's minds about an event. Another crazy thing to me is the timing of the race. The only people that seem to like it are the FIA and Las Vegas Tourism. LVT are trying to get the best of both worlds of the tourism by pushing the race back. That start time makes the race lose it's local standard racing fare and for a lot of fans, like myself, turns into a record and watch later event. We'll see how it goes but overhyping an event is hazardous business.

The circuit is rubbish! It’s just a DRS parade down the strip. Last year’s race was just a big party, 1% sport 99% show as Max said, and this year that hype isn’t there. When you see content from last year’s race, it’s just people drinking and eating in hospitality areas without so much as a glance at the on-track action. USA shouldn’t have 3 races whilst Countries with history, heritage and die hard F1 fans like Germany and France have none! Why is F1 not returning to South Africa? Why not go to Finland? A Nation that has given us F1 World Champions… When the Netflix DTS hype wears off, Americans will lose interest.
@FirestartheКүн бұрын
Americans never had interest in f1. USA already has a lot of sports with tickets 1/10 the price. Why see F1 if you have never watched it before, and at the price of F1 tickets there is so many other things to do in the us…. F1 has very little audience in the US and F1 makes no effort in growing a fanbase.

As an american I hate that the race will be in in the middle of the night. Equivalent to an Australian race as far as watching on the TV.

This is so typical. Last year: "Its OVERKILL! They are ruining F1 with all this glitz!". This year: 'What happened to the GLITZ? "

The behavior of the staff last year was a disgrace to those who attended and paid for a premium event. Instead of receiving the experience they expected, they were met with rude behavior, insults, and a completely artificial atmosphere. Events like this should not be hosted in venues that lack even the most basic quality control. Guests were treated more like cattle than valued attendees. It's truly disappointing, and I hope this venue is removed from the calendar soon-perhaps replaced by another epic and historic track in the USA.

The only worthwhile track in the US for F1 is COTA, Austin TX. Vegas doesn’t need F1 and F1 doesn’t need Vegas. Miami, nothing worth mentioning too, in my opinion. 😊

Is there not room for a little hype?
@leilegion2 күн бұрын
@@sadmermaid If you're a fan, you're already hyped for this weekend. You don't need the extra extravaganza to make you want to watch the GP. I enjoyed the music last year but it's better to keep it as a side event and let the drivers concentrate on their work.
@gturner382 күн бұрын
@@leilegion It was a side event last year. It was on the media day when they would have been doing PR stuff anyway.
@leilegion2 күн бұрын
@@gturner38 PR stuff is fine as long as its not going in the way of their work. They were overhyping the event last year and the drivers weren't happy. And its not a side event when drivers are getting pissed and asking them to do this and that and highlighting events they don't need. Those events happen on the side, not as part of the main event.

Watching on screen it felt better than Miami but that's a very low bar to clear. Part of the problem is the celebreties US venues feel compelled to invite, who know little about F1 or it seems anything else for that matter. Then Las Vegas lost a real opportunity to build one of the best circuits on the calendar and fluffed it. Another reason why the US seems to need all the hoopla is that the sports that are big there can be very boring to watch and need the razzamatazz to keep the audience engaged. Basketball? Yawn, Gridiorn football, yawn, baseball a little better, oval racing? I would argue that most real F1 fans want to see cars racing closely and overtaking, msot would probably prefer a return to the V10s or V8s and most would prefer to see circuits like Spa, Monza, Imola, Silverstone, Suzuka than Vegas or Miami. That however wouldn't keep Liberty Media's coffers full.

The Dinner on The Paddock kinda sums it all up. Don't know when that was held, but it was 55°F at 6 PM and 48°F by 8 PM last night. They had a banquet in what is nearly a parking lot in conditions that likely chilled the food before they could finish it. The race starts six hours after sunset in conditions that barely allow the race to be practical at a time that makes it unwatchable for most of the local fans.

The country is still a little punch drunk after the election and F1 didn't make itself too many fans after last year. I did look at the Lewis Hamilton package after it was discounted 50% but my wife is still upset from last years price gouging.

The US racing scene would be better served by dropping the horrible ill conceived Las Vegas circuit in favor of a purpose built one similar to COTA or Monza. Even rural Watkins Glen, in upstate NY, would be a better racing venue.

F1 is a European centric racing league. An American conglomerate company owns F1, but the Euro's run/manage F1 racing all over the world. The American open wheel league is called Indy Racing. The Americans run Indy. The Euro's run F1. Re: Las Vegas They have a road and oval at Las Vegas Speedway. Multiple American races there annually.

Perhaps all the "Drive to Survive", Johnny-come-lately Formula 1 people have found the newest, latest, greatest thing to watch. That, combined with Liberty Media's greed last year left a real bad taste in people's mouths, plus the race comes on at 11:30 PM East coast time.
