@@kobedabest That's easy to answer: The flywheel is `8 percent lighter. The turbo lag issue is fixed with the simplest change, a smaller turbo. The rev hang problem with the FK8 is nonexistent. The cooling is vastly improved not only by a revised intercooler but a vent that makes sense. The power and torque curves are nearly identical to the previous Type R up until about 2600 RPMs where it jumps up 9 horsepower and 15 lb-ft. I could go on. All of these components require the slightest tweaks to the K20C1 to make it better. The downside being its stance and weight that makes it bad for drag racing out the door.

The Civic seems like it's a much better car 'all round'- more practical and doesn't look like my grandma would drive it. If the Yaris was a lot cheaper then I would agree but at least in my country, both are equally crazy overpriced.

So both of these cars would be annihilated in the straight line by the Golf GTI Clubsport, let alone a Golf R. Heck, 13.9sec for the type R is just 0.1sec ahead of a standard 245ps Golf GTI. And people think that car not “hot” enough. LOL.

In Australia the GR Yaris is 200kW (268hp) and 370Nm And the new Type R is 235kW (315hp) and the same 420Nm of torque So some very slight differences, usually to do with the different climate of the countries, or each country must have its own rules & regulations.

Matt, next time you wanna rev the GR Yaris standing still, hold the tc off button(while standing still) for a few seconds until the line on your display, that says 'sport', 'track' or 'expert' says nothing anymore. That is how you turn off both your traction control completely aswell as your rev limiter. 🙂

It's a hard one. I love the type r, although the price and performance haven't gone in the best way. With the money of a type r you can buy thing like te vw GTI o even a second hand A35 AMG... I remember the 2016 one, just amazing, loved that car!

Regardless of how good the Type R is on a racetrack and considering that I am not a fan of FWD in the real world, given the choice between those two it would be the Yaris for me. That being said, if I were picking from a list of current hot hatches, I'd probably go for the Golf R.

the awd only makes sense for driving in the rain , snow or on gravel (which is out of the question without mods) and drag races (it’s not designed for repeated drag races so once again not useful) . for a track day and daily I would take fwd and get rid of the useless awd. the type R is too xpensive but a fwd yaris would be a killer for track days.

Honestly I think thats one of the BEST LOOkING CiViCs ever made. However the pricing and the fact it is FWD only is MAD! I would have prefered RWD at least but AWD woulda been best. Hope they change next release.

I ordered Type R because it's family car not like Yaris GR. Golf R Performance is maybe better choice but considering all costs after warranty and small trunk is Honda just better choice.

Both great cars undoubtedly. But the Yaris is far more superior and special. On those country roads the Yaris would smash the Civic
