13,4 was veeery bad time for A35. You can find 12,9s did by A35 limousine compeletly stock in Santa Pod. Maybe previous car tested by Carwow hasnt been broken-in yet or wasnt in Sport+ mode and switched off traction control. You cant compare two cars. They had also several different factory softwares. The best update was in Nov 2022

@skylinedrag it's still not gonna do 12.5. I've tested mine many times. Stock, tune only, exhaust + tune. Even with perfect start, tyres and other conditions, you will not get a 12.5s quarter mile stock.

The truth is Civic would crash those cars on track. Being a master of straight by 1 second vs. having great fun on track and being effective on it... Answer is simple. Better get car designed to take corners better than the rest of the field, break better - what we have seen on video and just gives you more sporty feel. Honda with its equipment is just quite another type of car. It will be sold out quickly anyway, just like in Japan last week.

Would that really help in a one time break test though? Modern car brakes are normally good enough to easily lock up. The only reason you would want to use engine braking or upgrade your brakes would be if you were afraid they would overheat. But, I’m not a big car guy so idk

If it had a good interior, car journalists wouldn't have completely smashed it in their reviews. Your 'for its class' argument is also amusing, as in this very video you can see an M135i with an infinitely better interior and which is also 8k cheaper. Yeah, it's slower but nowhere near as slow as the price difference would suggest. Furthermore, for a few grand more you can get an M240i which is better than this Golf in every possible category bar none. Take my advice and watch a few reviews before saying such nonsense. Or maybe you did, but you're having a hard time accepting the fact that the 8R's interior is just bad.

Just watch the review of the old one and imagine some of the things are 2% better apart from the looks which are subjective so in your opinion could be a 100% better. @@SmashedBeans68 If you look at numbers then I agree...but my A35 after break-in process has 336HP. I found also one stronger on YT. Some colleagues from W177 forum confirm that their cars have "gifts" and factory softwares weren't the same. There are cases of A35 that has between 312-340HP

The reason of the fastest a35 because it did not have the full aerodynamic package. All of the other A35 in this channel have the full aerodynamic package especially the wing.

This a35 is deffo not stock but if you’re interested, the 2nd hand market for them is pretty good. Got the 2019 premium plus with aero kit for 35k about 3-4 months ago (so saved about 10k on the top spec) Interior is another level compared to its competitors, so it was a no brainer to me when the performance between them is so similar

I’m thinking of a A35 saloon moving up from an A250 AMG. I’ve read the engines can be somewhat reliable with losing a cylinder, and the road noise is very nasty. Have you got any negatives mate? Or is it all smiles per mile?

@@jordanhughes3137 gearbox can be janky when the car isn’t up to temp. And in general the box is great for performance but not great for comfort

@@jordanhughes3137 literally just the gearbox around town when it’s not up to temp / when you may need to do a quick manoeuvre, getting into R can be a pain. Also I’d go for the 18” wheels if I was you, I’ve already cracked 3 rims on potholes with the stock rims that come with aero kit from factory. I think they’re pretty squishy. Ride is fine on the 19”s but will be even better with more side wall on the 18s. ^ only reason I haven’t done this yet is it’ll cost about 2k to change my whole rim and tyre setup (Michelin ps4s) Little annoyances: Apple CarPlay isn’t full screen (unless you get a facelift version). EVERY time you get in the car you have to dismiss a message about rear passenger seatbelts (doesn’t matter if you secure the belts the message will still pop up)

@@sashoxxx this gen Golf R isn't that bad on corners anymore. VW practically cloned the GKN system in the Focus RS so it can actually pivot in corners now. To be clear: the Golf R, S3 and RS3 are still very flawed cars at their cores, but they've put so many bandaids over time that they're starting to perform decently in corners too. I personally still wouldn't buy any of them if I were interested in track days, there are better naturally balanced cars with marvelous chassis out there.
