Matt they didn't let you test the voice command system that's new on this car? it uses the same system like your google now with a command word and you instruct it on what to do. It's awesome and virtually assists with everything in the car. They didn't equip this car with the same Adaptive cruise control semi autonomous system on the LS. That one wouldn't cut you off when you don't touch the steering like it did here. It would steer you round the bend and slow the car down to a halt and put on the hazards automatically then call emergency services on your behalf. I guess it may be an option on this ES, cause i heard them say it comes with a new safety system which is optional that even detects cyclists, pedestrians and objects and steers the car round them automatically while driving. The interior of this car is lovely though except for the hard bottom plastic door bins, the 5th gen ES had leather wrapped map pockets. Don't know why they have refused to use that since that generation.

I really don't think the move to replace the RWD GS with the FWD ES as the executive class saloon is a wise decision but then again I'm not a marketing exec so the fact that the ES has been Lexus' most successful model in the US is probably one of the deciding factors for it. It's just that the ES has been pretty much the car that solidified the stereotype of Lexus' being "nothing more than" posh Toyotas, what with it being based on the Camry and then the mechanically similar Avalon for the entirety of its life. Sure it's very different to that base what with all the extra soundproofing and comfort-oriented changes et al but still.

2.5l + electric motor and only 220hp? That's 2.0l diesel power range.
@1985toyotacamry6 жыл бұрын
Jack Z no the F sport doesn't make it faster it make the suspension and everything else sporty but the power is the same.
@sic22l6 жыл бұрын
And CVT. It does 0-100kph in 9 seconds... @Jack Z There will be no ES350 in Europe.
@MadProductionsink6 жыл бұрын
+sic22l Like I said 9 seconds is mid 2000s 2.0l diesel territory, this is a brand new 2.5l petrol
@VehicleValhalla6 жыл бұрын
MadProductionsink I'm pretty sure this hybrid petrol is meant to compete with the 2.0L Diesels like the 520d

There’s no arguing Lexus and Volvo does the best seats in the industry by far. They’re so good in fact, I’m sure they’ve sold a considerable number of cars based on that aspect alone. If you’ve never had a seat in one of those cars... it’s a revelation. I can tell you, even in my home I don’t have a chair, couch, or recliner that’s as comfortable. As an aside, the comfort of Lotus’ Probax seats are mind boggling, especially given the fact they have no adjustability, and even less padding!

All the Lexus ES grilles since 2014 are hideous. Good car, but ugly car.
@nucleonst6 жыл бұрын
Lexus is making each new model a winner in its category. If hard plastic is bad is subjective. Asians think its cool we think it’s not. The truth is that they do not make sounds and squeaks after years. We are really biased when it comes to styling and interior.

Lexus is a great Car

The ES doesn’t replace the GS, it’s between the IS and the GS. It’s a bit less refined as the GS, but bigger than the IS for a similar price as the IS.

The interior of the e class is much much superior honestly
@seylannaidoo89296 жыл бұрын
well yeah, if the E-class has the right options. This is quite a bit cheaper than the E-class though.
@1969cmp6 жыл бұрын
That digital dash and console sucks. Previous generstions back to the W211 were nicer than the current shite.
@gianhet6 жыл бұрын
1969cmp you're delusional
@sic22l6 жыл бұрын
@Seylan Naidoo Not in Europe. E-class is the cheaper one now.
@1969cmp6 жыл бұрын
gianhet No, not really. It is my subjective opinion. But hop into the E-Class and what do you notice about the dash and centre console. It is just blank space, a blank black screen and you are looking at a tele thst is yet to be turned on. I much prefer analog dial, as least the main ones like speedo and techo. Too much tech is subtracting from a sense of quality and appearence and now we have dead space. My subjective opinion is, I do not like some of the most modern dash and console layouts.
@WatcherXel6 жыл бұрын
No, but it's still a great car. Very comfortable, spacious, smooth and quiet. I am more of a 'German fanboy' myself, an Audi fan in particular, but I'd still recommend this car for people who would pay money for reliability. And even though the ES is actually a more luxurious Camry, I prefer its design over the latter. I'd definitely consider this car, if not shortlist it.

Lexus to me looks like shit. the same old design of the grill and headlights just annoys me. But Lexus is Lexus - the greatest reliable car unlike bmw , mercedes or volkswagen where all the screws and doors start falling off the day after the warranty ends.

£36k starting? that's quite affordable if I get my dream job lol. I would prefer a touch screen infotainment option & safety upgrade with the steering 8:30. But, 60mpg is very impressive =)

Vile looking car. Understated it is not. Bmw 5 series is the benchmark in this segment, always has been, not e class.
@快樂無窮6 жыл бұрын
No, BMW is and will forever be the leader in handling, Mercedes in luxury and Audi in tech.
@publicsectordirect9826 жыл бұрын
Paul Shum No mate, bmw leaders in all three areas you mentioned. Please inform yourself before making such wild and ridiculous statements. Audi leaders in Tech you say? Please. Are you just repeating what their adverts told you to say in a bit to appear knowledgeable? Do some research. Here's a starting point for you, two biggest car makers in the world, VW group (including brands audi, seat, skoda etc) and Toyota build cheaper mass produced cars, Good cars at that. Toyota have brand Lexus, which is Toyota in wolves clothing and VW have brand Audi, which is a VW in wolves clothing. Audi a1 = VW polo, audi a3 = golf audi a4 = passat and so on... Takeaway the body panels, interior, seats, and badges you wouldn't be able to tell if you were looking at an audi, VW, seat or skoda. Same engines, transmission gearbox, suspension, chasis etc. As you prove, VW do an excellent job of marketing audi as a genuine alternative to BMW and mercedes. Mercedes are great cars but not on same level as BMW.
@快樂無窮6 жыл бұрын
Public Sector Direct huh, I see a bmw fanboy. See the new A6? the e class? Compared to the two cars, bmw interiors are just ugly and cluttered
@publicsectordirect9826 жыл бұрын
Paul Shum fanboy, probably yes. But if mercedes start to make better cars than I will buy a merc. I love old mercs and VW's. Opinion on interior is subjective of course, I prefer BMW interiors to modern mercedes, but I can see why others would prefer mercs.
@MrAndrew19536 жыл бұрын
Definitely prefer the S Sport version. A lot to like about this car despite limitations with the grille, infotainment system. Hybrid definitely worth considering with fuel prices and availability.
