I’ve had the range topping Opel Insignia Sports Tourer 2.0 Turbo 4x4 (260hp petrol) now for 1.5 yrs and 27000kms and it’s actually the best car I’ve owned, including 3 Audis (of one S4), one MB, one VW, 2 Jeeps, 3 Hyundais, 1 Fiat, 3 Fords, 1 Chevy, a MINI and 8 Porsches. Actually I chose the Insignia over a Porsche SUV/Panamera. The total package the Insignia delivers is absolutely awesome. Besides the amazing Intellilux matrix lights which is always left at auto high beam, the Webasto heater and the super duper FlexRide chassis, I must say the BOSE noise cancelling system of the passenger compartment is my favorite tech. The mechanical 4x4 system with the active tourqe diff on the rear axel is brilliant driving on Scandinavian winter roads. And the towing capacity of 2.2tonnes makes it a capable hauler also. Brilliant car from Rüsselsheim, before any PSA interference. It’s a keeper!

We drove approximately 4000 miles and when I got home I configured a loaded one on Buick' s website and placed my deposit. I hadn’t seen one before and was immediately impressed with the look and equipment level. I mainly travel short distances and wanted to avoid a diesel due to my start, stop driving habits. I’ve had problems with fuel filters in the past. Paid £11,800. I’m hoping it’s the right choice.

My good Lady is 5ft 3 and has no problems, even reversing, but saying this, my car has a rear camera and parking sensors front and back. If you raise the seat a bit the car will not feel so big to drive. My only criticism is the top of the range infotainment system struggles to deal with an ipod with over 11,000 songs. The crazy thing is the infotainment on a 2013 Vauxhall Antara deals with it easily, and that is an old system. It is called the Buick Regal in America and that is made in Canada. It is the same car with different engines, but slightly heavier as the B post had to be beefed up for US safety regulations.

Loy Regacy Who in USA knows that Opel (it's Vauxhall only in the UK) even exists? Who would buy a car which has literally no trademark in the US? It's cheaper to give it a name of a well known brand than build trademark from scratch. All Opel cars are designed in Germany, but they belong to GM, so they can do with them whatever they want.
@StephenButlerOne7 жыл бұрын
Loy Regacy the origanal company name is Opel, but for some reason when they entered the uk market they used the brand name Vauxhall. There was probably a UK car company (or similar) called opel, so they needed a new name. In Australia opel is called Holden, so it's a company of many names. GM it's parent company just sold it all to Pergeot. I think they folded the holden brand before the sale.
@nathanbeard87677 жыл бұрын
Stephen Butler I think the situation was that Opel, Vauxhall, Holden and Buick started out as separate brands. Who were then later bought out by General Motors who decided to group them and use the same basic cars to save on cost. GM seemingly operated a tier system whereby brands could change more stuff depending on how high up they where, for example Saab got to change near enough everything, whereas Opel and Vauxhall are restricted to just badges.

I had the Holden version on hire in Australia for a month. I loved it especially the engine, 3.6 V6 AWD. It could go and fuel consumption was 8.8L/100KM over the 2600km I put up on it.

I've always thought of Opel/Vauxhall as a fundamentally insipid, boring and unoriginal brand, but I have to say, this car actually looks really good. I don't know if it is their marketing though but they need to improve their image in order to stop looking like they only manufacture cheap-feeling, uninteresting cars.

They have had so many good-looking models, Calibra, Speedster, Astra Coupe, Vectra GTC, Insignia..people have so much prejudice about Opel that unless they reinvent cars completeley people are gonna hate on them.

Yeah when i say that im a Opel fan people often say that Opel is shit and most of the ones who are saying that are Bmw Audi fans. I think Bmw and Audi is overrated tbh

Great video and really nice car. Only two problems though. The car with this spec is over £30K (forget the £18K entry) and depreciation will be ruinous. Over three years it will be an expensive proposition.
