Mazda's of late are all good,. Driver's cars with decent quality and a solid price. Only real let down is the engines are a bit outdated. They can keep the purist naturally aspirated engines for the MX-5, Mazda 2 and pushing it a bit on the Mazda 3. The family cars definitely need more modern/ efficient engines and no a 2.5 l turbo is not practical unless its making above 200kw, which Mazda is not doing even in the 6 and CX-9. Downsize forced induction and electrical assistance is the way to go.
@ArjunaSamaranayakaRock5 жыл бұрын
True about the interior quality and design, it's simple and beautiful. However not so about the engine and transmission. Their skyactive engines have a poor reliability record and are one of the most notorious engines to fix. Same goes with their transmission. If you are planning to keep your vehicle 3-400000 miles new skyactive Mazdas are not a good choice. In the long run, you don't give a crap about the interior quality but the reliability. Hence Toyota is still king on the hill.

@mavricxx5 жыл бұрын
I got my wife 2019 CX-5 Reserve and I absolutely love it myself to the point I felt a bit of jealousy but I do get to drive it around quite a bit. Here's what I found I liked and didn't like about it. The quarter panels on it have terrible visibility so it's a good thing it came with the blind spot monitoring and the backup camera, they help and essentially mitigate this issue. The lock/unlock feature used by pressing the little button on the door handle is LAME! Mazda should have adopted the one where all you do is place your hand in the door handle and it automatically unlocks and as you walk away it locks or you can manually do it by pressing a spot on the door handle. I have this feature on my 2018 Mustang and also seen it on BMWs and I absolutely love it! It feel much more fluid, polished and elegant. Another issue I have with it is the dashboard lighting. When it gets dark out and the lights come on in the cockpit, it was looking dark and gloomy so I tried to adjust them to look a bit brighter but when I turned the little adjuster they go from 0-100, there is no median and that really irks me. It either kills your eyes or they're a bit too dark for comfort. I'm not sure what Mazda was thinking but this is a terrible missed detail in an otherwise amazing and fun car.Here's another thing and some people are probably going to bash me but I don't care...the tires are too narrow. This car is FAST and this is coming from a Mustang GT and BMW owner. When you drop the pedal this thing had wheel spin and even slides to the point I have found myself sliding unintentionally trying to do a U-turn to get into traffic fast. I think it needs wider rubber than the simple 225 it has, after all this is at the top of the range. Also, the corners is where the tires also are noticed to be too narrow. I think something more substantial would really help this car, something like a 245 or even 235 would have helped a lot. The rims are very nice btw, it's just a shame they're a bit too narrow. I get this is not a sports car but trust me, it drives and feels like one, don't let the outer shell fool you. Heck it is just as fun to drive as my BMW if not more. The Mazda GPS is weird and don't like it but one thing I do like is how on the right side it shows points of interests like distance to nearest gas stations for example. The reason I say it's weird is because the usual GPS like Waze shows you going up and adjusts as you make turns and such where you always seem like you're going up and it makes you feel you're going in the right direction but this one will show you going horizontal or down and it's just weird cause it down't give you a sense of direction. It's hard to explain, you'll just have to try it on a long trip. Although the infotainment center gets annoying when you're driving and can't touch it to surf through settings and such, once I got used to it it becomes second nature and not obstructive at all. I will say that comparing this to my Mustang's Ford Sync 3, the touch screen makes things a hell of a lot easier. My dad noticed it when we went on a little trip and setup Waze using Android Auto on my Mustang and he saw how quickly I did it. He even commented how quickly and easy I made it look which even I noticed it was easier on the Ford than the Mazda. Again, it isn't a bad system but it is a bit sluggish and the no touch while you're driving makes things bit less easy to navigate. The worse thing about it is the reverse camera is very grainy, and I wish it had better quality like a 1080p in this day in age. I have to say with all it's flaws and no car is perfect, this little SUV is awesome and lots of fun!

"not easy to use" spend 5 minutes in it and it's easy Matt! What you need to understand is that the money has been spent on the things that really matter - driving dynamics, a decent engine and quality parts. It's interesting no one mentions that Mazda has the most advanced petrol engine technology that a car could get. Any mechanical engineer such as myself who learned about it would tell you the same, they made something almost impossible, possible.

Gorgeous looking car and will be very reliable with it being Mazda. What is it however you have against a CD player? Lol not everyone uses Spotify and if u have a car that doesn't have Bluetooth media and just Bluetooth connectivity for phone use, then you need a CD player, would rather it has one and not use it, than not have one at all as an option. It's really not as if it's making the car less by it being there?
@bencrosbie5 жыл бұрын
James Mccormack agreed
@01PvL985 жыл бұрын
Agreed but if this car has Bluetooth what is the point of the cd player? Cd player is useful when it's the only way to play music. Even the most computers don't come with cd player anymore.
@diegodaily_5 жыл бұрын
Agreed. As long as it doesn't come at the expense of other things, I don't see why it's such an awful idea. Elderly people may not know how to use Bluetooth but do know how to put a CD in.
@mariocamilleri97235 жыл бұрын
Agree 100% !!
@jamesmccormack32295 жыл бұрын
@@01PvL98 agree, however its not really going to be a bad thing if the car has both, just in the off chance u may find and old CD and want to listen with out creating a play list first or be paying a monthly subscription to some on line music app, to then play in the car on Bluetooth, also some cars Bluetooth is only for phone use and to play music have to have it plugged in to car which mean cables in the way. If its not at the expense of any other item being taken out of the car then I really don't see it as a bad thing having it in the car really.

Why would be a CD player a bad or even a stupid idea ? At least Mazda know a Digital CD will always produce a better sound than Spotify or KZbin or whatsoever. So owning a Bose sound system AND a CD makes sense, quite the contrary ! And they give you the choice, you can listen to a CD or to a Spotify playlist, the cars allows you both. Nice to see they also give you the choice between a manual or an automatic gear. Not like these European car makers that impose automatic gears...

Here in North America we don't have the same trim level selections as those available in Europe and we don't have a diesel option, at all. Instead, Mazda offers the CX-5 with the same 2.5L turbo petrol engine that's in the Mazda6 and the CX-9. Otherwise, though, the vehicles are comparable. But here's a test. What does the "U" in CUV/SUV stand for? If you said, "Utility," you earn a gold star. (If you said "ugly" that's another discussion.) And by that standard the CX-5 falls seriously short. (I'll stick to cubic feet measurement since we Americans are challenged by arithmetic and believe that metric measurement is some sort of foreign plot. ) The CX-5 offers 59.6 cubic feet of overall cargo space behind the first row of seats. The Honda CRV provides 25% more in a vehicle about one inch longer! In fact, the CX-5's overall cargo space is only about six cubic feet more than a VW Golf, a vehicle that's a foot shorter than the Mazda. So if a crossover's looks appeal to you, (there's no accounting for taste), the CX-5 is a stylish choice. But if actual versatility and "utility" in a cUv is what you're after, there are better choices in this category.

Took ownership of a cx5 2.0 sport nav+ auto in Snowflake white on 1/3/19. The good points: Extremely well put together cabin and quality trim, puts me in mind of BMW & Mercedes. Seat leather is of a good quality and seats are supportive and comfortable. Road noise is good for class and a lot better than the Honda CRV and Peugeot 3008. The Bose sound system is very good and has a large subwoofer in the floor lining of the boot. I also appreciate having a cd player, not everyone wants to buy down loads of an album they have probably bought umpteen times before! Cabin space is sufficient and rear leg room is fine for us (sub 6ft) The external styling is beautiful, not too in your face, I would describe it as classy and a cut above its competitors. Boot space is adequate but not class leading. MPG is around 35 with a mix of around town and a small amount of motorway. Bad points: 0-60mph is slooow, very under powered in my opinion, the car does not feel like a 2.0 the accelerator peddle takes some pushing down and nothing seems to happen. The auto gear box struggles to select the right gear if you try to pull away fast, 6 gears is just not enough which leads to a jerky change at times and holds on to the gear slightly too long. The satnav is poor with graphics that are basic and years out of date, honestly you can buy a plug in that gives better quality and features. One last gripe, the petrol engine noise can only be described as a whine, it reminds me of a fake electric engine noise. Overall I would give this car 6.5 out of 10. A lovely looking car, quality interior but the drive fails to deliver.

Mazda CX 5 2020 is amazing for my country's roads, full of bumps. It is also powerful so you can merge or pass safely. I love this car and I had no problem so far in 4 years. On offroad is also very good, but you get definetly shaken 😂 because its made to stay over the bumps, so its very sturdy. Many people came to me or my boyfriend to ask us about the car because they wanted to change it with this one. I have it on Soul Red, so it got many compliments on this color. It is spacious and perfect for road trips or daily life.

good to see an updated and expanded CX-5 review, I'm a happy petrol stone leather Sport Nav CX-5 owner, but would love to see the 2.5L petrol engine in UK thats offered in Germany & US, stop the use of 'easily scratched' black gloss plastic on all the bits you touch -- and tuuuuuurbo option, we don't all drive on flat roads!!! Agree with MZD & rear camera issues (playlist use that doesn't hang the unit on one song would be nice and not being charged £350 upgrade my 2018 unit to Android Auto) -- you cant really reach it to touch when driving, so command wheel is very good and you get very used to it. No more pizza wheels is cool change, and i still love Bose sound system and ADD HUD! Slot in rear arm rest is to store/hold mobile or tablet devices when charging. I got the dealer to fit the Mazda LED bulb upgrade kit, along with rubber mats, and mudguards. Definitely a driver's car, its fun, comfortable, slick short throw gears and corners great. Better finance deals than Ford offered, made me first time Mazda owner last year, stunned how much extra kit on Sport Nav compared to Kuga top spec.

Very sexy car from Mazda. To think this is a car that came out some while back and you can see how miles ahead they were of the competition. Definitely love how Mazda puts the driver first, and all the other stuff really seems complementary to that goal. A dying breed in this new age when most cars make this sublime skill so artificial with too much assistance systems. Pretty sure a facelift will iron out these tiny misgivings.... as has been seen in the new Mazda 3. Eagerly waiting for your take on the new Mazda 3 😁

Hiring one atm for a week. Curious thing. Rarer than the default qashqai. Its nice (ish) inside. Very quiet and also very slow and fairly thirsty. Skyactiv g or whatever it is does not do wonders for economy even driving like an oap. Also some shockingly cheap bits fuel flap switch feels like it will beak after several pulls. As for the filler cap hinge its woeful.

Just because bluetooth and smartphones exist doesn't mean that my CD collection has suddenly evaporated. Nothing wrong with having the option to have a CD player in a car. You just come off a bit snobby when you completely dismiss CD's just because smartphones exist. One other point also: Since my current car doesn't support CD I have to use bluetooth and connect my phone. It's easy to do but I have to only listen to shuffle. I refuse to touch my phone while driving so there is no way for me to listen to specific albums. Whereas if I had CD's I could swap between them with one hand without taking my eyes off the road at all purely by physical feel. I'm not pretending that CD's aren't niche but they aren't completely obsolete either.

I like a car with a CD player. Not everyone wants to use Apple Car Play/Android Auto. I'm actually looking at the CX5 for my next car and one of the reasons that it's one of the few cars that actually come with a CD as standard (some, like Ford, is an optional extra). Other than that, keep up the good work. I wish there would a lot more dealers on CarWow as there isn't that many near me. There's a local Mazda dealer to me and they are not on CarWow :(
