Cary didn't have to do any more than he did. His good looks, impeccable manners and he definitely had that “It” factor. The best cinema actor America has ever seen. No one can touch Cary’s “jen ne sais quoi.”

His acting was so natural. You believed every character he portrayed. He had that inner sparkle that came out in his eyes. He had a seductive manner about himself. You can tell when he acted against Mae West. He held his own. They started rumors about him and Randolph Scott just cause they had been roommates. I don’t know if it was true or not. But it’s possible he could of been bi-sexual. We don’t know. And I really don’t care. It’s not unusual to be best friends with a roommate. It doesn’t mean they were sexual. And if they were it’s none of our buisness. He was an entertaining actor whom had great appeal

He denied being anything other than heterosexual. The rumors started because he refused to play the gossip game with Hedda Hopper. And 2 single men being roommates is not unusual. The little I know about Cary, was that he liked a certain amount of stability in his home life. Cary was emotionally damaged because of his childhood. He was very insecure in relationships. With the help of friends and therapy, he was finally able to be happy after divorcing Dyan Cannon. This marriage was a bad fit. Dyan was not a woman, she was like a teenage girl. This kind of relationship could never work with a man like Carry Grant. His last wife before he died was the perfect fit. She was well educated, intelligent, mature, well read, interesting, kind and beautiful. She was a wonderful wife, partner, and friend to Cary.

The only thing I wasn't aware of was his spy activities for British intelligence on his wife's family. He was literally old enough to be Dyan Canon's father and disapproved of her smoking marijuana with her Beatnik friends and didn't like Rock and roll music although he did use LSD before it became illegal. He grew up without a mother since his pharmacist father had her committed to a mental institution and told him she died when he was a young boy, a fact that he only discovered the truth about when he was an adult. Truly a fascinating character on so many levels. I can well imagine Ian Fleming having Cary Grant in mind when he created James Bond.

I read that he wanted her to spend time being with their daughter, not acting while she was a baby. She wanted a career, not that she ever had much of one. I can't remember anything special that she did. I think because he was denied his mom, he did not want that for his daughter, which is why he stepped down from movies, knowing that since he was so much older, he had limited time to be with her. I always admired him, acting, comedies, drama, and his looks, but knowing what a great father, that said so much more. He was unique and wonderful.

Maybe more comfortable for him? Married Woolworth heir Barbara Hutton was the only one that did not take any money from her.

He was not cheap. He was thrifty. He was born into a lower middle class family, his father abandoned him and his mother was in an insane asylum. He was fending for himself when he was a teen, so he knew hunger and poverty. Never heard of the slipper thing, you made that up.
