If only youth coaches would have this on constant repeat. Kolat speaks from experience and talks about it here. It's hard to argue with him and what made him possibly the greatest high school wrestler ever in America and one of the greatest collegiate and World level athletes from this country.

I agree to a point, but if a move isn't there then it isn't there. Like if the gramby roll isn't there then whats the point in attempting it. I understand you can set up moves, but sometimes even when you are trying to set a move up it's just not there. So i am a little confused by this.

In a youth wrestling tournament do you honestly think a move "isn't there?" Those "if this, then that" conversations coaches get into with their athletes are why many athletes develop slowly, if at all. If my opponent does this, then we will do that. There are two schools of thought in coaching: 1. Use surprise and change where you apply a variety of moves and techniques to any one particular situation in an attempt to confuse your opponent. 2. Execution and simplicity. Your opponent knows what's coming but can't stop it because it's done so well. Kolat teaches from the latter school of thought.

Too late Mr Kolat, too late I’ve already made it all about that
