I play two machines in different locations a dozen or so times. My personal experience (shots, difficulty, art, fun, sound) was so good that I bought a DE. Campy & goofy as hell, but I love it. Have not received mine yet, but the machines I played, I saw no issues. Even looks like they worked on the 3D printing slightly.

I really liked how different it was. Like you, I struggled with the tank being so close to the flippers. But I also prefer a more open playfield. Overall though I give it a solid 8.5 out of 10.

I feel like AP should release the stl files so owners can print their own, higher quality, parts. My beat up Ender 3 with some cheap PLA can churn out better prints. Geez AP, at least take an old toothbrush and get rid of the stinging.

I remember when Hot Wheels was released; American Pinball stated the leg levelers should be threaded all the way in. From the manual in June 2020; "With the leg levelers all the way in (no threads showing below the leg) the game will sit at 6 degrees."

I know it shouldn’t matter much but the animations are a real drawback for most American pinball games. Hate the green screen videos. IMO if they can’t get the lcd animations down they should switch to dmds. Hopefully an aftermarket mod can help with this poor tank quality

Honestly, I loved the marketing. I love that they put giant, ridiculous, glowing tank treads on it and drove it around the event; I thought that was cool as hell. I love the 3D back glass, it looks bad-ass!! Would like to see more of that. One of my all-time favorite PC games is the old school RTS, Red Alert and the video in this game looks and feels just like that. So, I love it. If I could afford to own a pinball machine, I'd probably get this one. But I would definitely mod out the original 3D printed hardware. That does look pretty bad. Any chance it was a rush job for TPF and not actually going in consumer models? Ideally you print the first model, in segments, do the acid bath and the sanding to get them smooth and pretty and then you make molds so you can have much higher quality castings. I'm hoping that that is the plan for production models. It just makes sense to do it that way.

Rusty, I actually have over 72 games (both vids and pins) I have access to tons of games thanks to Rob Berk and being heavily involved with Pinball Expo. I really got addicted to Galactic Tank Force. It's a lot of fun to play. Lots to unpack.

Just played it for the first time and had soooo many balls go screaming above the flippers and hitting the glass. After a few of those I took my time and looked carefully at the playfield and realized some of the plastics are broken. Seemed campy and fun, the cow made me laugh, but the quality seemed meh, especially with that robot. I almost wanted to print a robot myself and give it to the operator who owned this machine.

I love the theme, artwork, green screen acting, tank cabinet. The 3D printing could be better. My MAIN concern is layout. I don't think it's a masterpiece. Arcade Hollywood makes great videos but why in the hell did he highlight the airball over the flippers with slo mo and why did AP sign off on it? So much dumb shit has happened under Dave Fix's leadership that I've lost confidence. All that and I'd still park that sexy tank in my gameroom.

Recently bought an API Oktoberfest machine. I play with the legs all the way down. The pitch and height are good, and I have no other reason to change. Other than issues with build quality, after 4 years in production, really disappointed that API hasn't corrected the ramp/wireform design to keep balls from jumping the wireforms. The 3-D printed bartender head isn't fantastic, but appears to be better than the GTF figures.

I can't speak for the pinball side of things, but as far as the video assets/UI are concerned, as a film maker and motion designer it takes a lot of skill to execute a well-made kitschy theme - actually more than something contemporary. I suspect they didn't have the budget for fun sci-fi, (fair enough, good looking sci-fi aint cheap) and so the thinking was to save money going down the camp route - which is fine, but it still needs to be crafted...

From what I'm seeing, after three year of doing nothing (LOV doesn't count since it was a finished homebrew), this is it? Dennis Nordman's previous released game, Elvira's House of Horrors has mechs, while GTF has nothing other than a jack in a box. Speaking of HoH, Elvira perfectly integrated live action green screen video The story while good and creative, just is confusing and shouldn't need someone from AP to have it make sense. Has this 50 mixed with 90's FMV games, plus Dubstep

How many board games have I seen with crappy 3d prints, it might not be great but I am really still happy with those games. I can fix a crappy 3d print, I cant fix a chipping or pooling playfield!

yes, the leg-levelers were screwed in (all the way up), making the machine basically flat with no pitch (except for the natural pitch of the PF of course).

Haha on the legs. Without science, in my home environment, I have the rear legs near max height and front near the lowest setting. Glad I passed on this one. I still have to live with my deposits on Godfather CE and Pulp Fiction LE but glad I passed on GTF.

American was litterally having the code updated on Friday morning and trying to get the game stable before the show. So the game IMHO just rolled out of the production line for TPF. So kudo's to them for pulling it off. It wasn't perfect, the game has or had issues. I don't think many of the issues I have will be solved because they are fundamental to the game. Namely I didn't like the cut scenes or call outs. The videos just didn't scream vintage sci-fi to me and quickly just became annoying. I found myself skipping immediately. The 3D animated clips also felt very out of place. It was how they looked. They looked like cheap early 2000's Saturday morning cartoons. If I owned this game I would find a way to disable all of this entirely. That's the main issue. The other issues I encountered and watched many others encounter. The ball frequently jumping up and over the flippers and "Shield" after hitting the tank targets. The mini-posts under the lower flippers frequently trapped balls between the mini-post and flipper with no option other than a drain, even when the "Shield" was up. I love the cow, that's a keeper. I liked the some of the game rules and thought they worked well. Did I like the game. Aside from the aforementioned issues, yes. If I had a choice between the new games revealed would I make this the one I took home? Are you crazy? FF is the new Godzilla and it's only going to get better. In closing let this be known, that GTF is by far American's best game and that's a step in the right direction and I hope they sell the crap out of them. The vib I got from people playing was very positive. I just happened to have a lot more time with the game and took a lot in of what others were saying about it.

They did the same thing with LoV at Expo. The flipper power was so weak, it ruined the game. Every other experience I've had with it on location has been much better.

Another stellar video Cary. 7:21 is absolutely perfect. George Fisher (pinball streamer) said it best: "I love everything about GTF except playing it." This is exactly how I feel about this game, there's so much to like but I can't get over the playfield. It's just not very good in my opinion, not fun to shoot. And unfortunately that's not going to change with code updates.

Played it at TPF. One game…because you can’t do much if, when you hit the primary target, & the ball returns by quickly soaring over your flippers. Yes, seeing them drive it around TPF garnered a lot of attention, but I didn’t hear *anyone* comment about enjoying gameplay. I spent 12 hours as a volunteer at the door, & heard comments & complaints from people walking in & out about the various pins. Other than “driving GTF around is cool,” I heard nothing about this pin at all.

Seems to me that GTF was released at a poor time with the other big name titles all coming out at the same time. At least they tried for something new and different. Maybe rushed it along to get it out there in time for TPF and to not be late to the party with the other games. Don't care for the whole tank body thing. Not for me but an interesting game.

Similar thoughts. I enjoy the campy theme. Like that they are doing something off the wall/different. I had some airballs off those middle targets and found those to be a little close for my liking. That high pitch noise was really shrill and needed a little tuning it seems. This was my first time playing LOV and I personally enjoyed it a lot more.

I was looking forward to it as a new original IP game, like something from the 90s. But seeing the gameplay, the lack of effort in marketing the game, the complaints about playfield damage and airballs and such, this wasn't ready for prime time, and I really cant see myself buying it. The sad thing is API is so low volume, this wont reach the masses on location, and I think this is going to tank (no pun intended) API in general. Also, the theme is campy, but it's so disjointed it feels like half of it was just pasted on. Nordman should have just re-made Whitewater and called it a day. Instant sellout. Could have even put the game in a kayak.
