You can help abused and/or neglected children. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers tell their stories of hope for these kids who would otherwise be lost in the foster care system.
Call (312) 433-4928 for more information about CASA Cook County, or visit us at casacookcounty.org/contact/
To find a program in your area visit National CASA: www.casaforchildren.org

Thank God for the good people who volunteer in this system. We as a nation. MUST demand abuse of children and animals stop!! Sterilization of these abusers is the only way to stop this cycle. Nobody talks about that

I came here bc I thought about being a volunteer but I don't think my heart can take seeing that. I would end up with so many kids in my homes bc I can't just see that neglect, walk away and report. I would have ALL these kids at my house. Unrealistic, but I feel like volunteering here would cause my heart to break and more tears & stress in my life fighting this battle. I'm torn.

A powerful story. This is why I started out as a CASA volunteer... then became a CASA Volunteer Coordinator... and now the CASA Program Director. More volunteers are need to advocate for neglected and abused children. #volunteernow #CASA

because foster care is so messed up yeah there are good homes but there a lot of people who do it for money and there is so many kids that you just try to find somewhere for them to sleep then thinking is this going to help them is this home have great parents or is there space its so messed up

@@urmom-bx2tb I know. I used to be in the system. It has a lot of flaws. I'm just so happy that there are people out there that do care and try to help the kids. It's hard though when you have a sibling too. They "try to keep you together", but to be honest, I was split from my sister so many times. And while I understand wanting families to stay together... there comes a point (especially with certain type of parents) where you have to face the fact that there is no trying in keeping them together. like to be honest, you can tell from the time you take the child(ren) rather or not the parent(s) will even care. But yeah. I totally see what you are saying.

I have an idea. about $1000 is spent on children in foster care by the state. It cost $10 to buy a cheap cell phone. Before going into foster care, a cast worker gives a $10 phone to each kid with no minutes. Instead of the case working going to visit every kid, the case worker just randomly calls the phone during school hours and ask if they are ok (case worker will also tell the kid to give the phone to a teacher or guidance concealer for further verification). If a case worker ever calls a phone and nobody answers, that should be a red flag for that case worker to go out and visit that kid.

how long was theirs kid in CPS custody , years, i see , the mom did everything she could to get the kid back but CPS has all the power as you stated but i dont believe that the mom didnt want the kid she just couldn't do the stuff that CPS puts on these parents they just keep adding stuff and CPS gets paid to adopt the child out not reunification of the families
@ctesiphon9972

CPS does not get paid for adoptions; in fact CPS bears the costs. CPS policy, especially since the Families First law was rolled out last year, is first for trying to keep the child in the home (not necessarily a good thing but cheaper than foster care) and then for reunification with the birth family. The parents have a case plan which is based on the ability to prove stable housing (the same address for six months); sufficient income to support the child; and sobriety. Free services are provided for substance abuse (in patient and out patient); domestic violence therapy; psychotherapy; parenting classes; parent aides; transport to visitations. They have 12-15 months to show that they are working on their case plan. The time limit is because foster care is not good for children; they need permanency and stability. It is not easy to terminate parental rights but parents themselves can surrender their parental rights at any time. They do not need to tell the child that s/he is no longer wanted.

I'm sure some of our kids really do need a loving adopted family! But, My story about dcs,casa! Isn't GOOD! Dcs, and casa lied to my 2 granddaughters for 6yrs! The girls was suppose to come to me so I can adopt them but, instead dcs placed them with a different family member that dcs, and casa is allowing for her to adopt! This women physically, and mentally abuses both girls. And the living arrangements are horrible! It's got to be a big money scam! But our kids pay the price for their lack of SAFETY!!!
