So brave for her to stand up to him. She was 15 when this all started, just a little girl! The whole family could have been killed by that horrible man.

Its thanks to brave people like Franca who stand strong & determined to bring wrong doers to justice & change antiquated illegal laws. Because of her bravery & commitment to civil rights not to be coerced by intimidation & humiliation she made public the wrongness of those who command & weild power by fear & recriminations! I hope Franca & her husband had a happy & fruitful life. By making the disgraceful behaviour of those whos reign of Terror by association of mafiosa Was made public & paved the way for others to bring to justice the Traditional wrong doing of these men! Franca risked so much by her actions & steadfastness to live her life by her own wishes. God Bless her & her brave fight against injustice & giving women a voice against centuries old so called Tradition! Thank you casefiles! Regards 🇬🇧👧

Brava, Franca! E bravo, papà Bernardo! :) To Casefile: How wonderful that you chose to present this case! Regardless of how much I "enjoy" (can't find a word that doesn't feel icky in the context of true crime) episodes about horrible murder cases, it really was nice for once to get an episode that left me feeling primarily good rather than primarily sad and horrified. Thank you, and kudos.

What a brave girl!!! Am so glad she ended up happily married and survived her ordeal, and that the Italian judges sided with her. She set a precedent. Whoever ordered the hit on Filippo: Well done! Probably his own family circle.....His usefulness had long disappeared and he'd only brought shame to the mafia members.

There is little else on earth more pathetic than a man who turns into a bully the moment he hears the word 'no.' I imagine Filippo felt like he was exuding strength and control, but I can't think of anything that makes a person look weaker.

An excellent ending for the year’s portfolio of work, continuing the more recent trend toward stronger entries. A particularly poignant story - with all the dramas of late with women still struggling to get justice for being violated, often facing he said/she said odds. Also a story about a proper father, a real man who sticks by his daughter against even the whole of society. Well done Casey and the Casefile team. And Merry Christmas.

Totally disgusting law. Nice happy ending, Thank God! I bet one of the reasons why that guy got executed was because he told anyone who'd listen that he'd still make trouble for Miss Viola. Thank you Casefiles! Merry Christmas. Bless you Franca.

I found an interview with Franca in Italian. She still lives there and sometimes she will run into some of her kidnappers from back then. They look down very quickly. She thinks that they had been convinced by Filippo that it was not her, but only her father, who was against them being together. That they also felt deceived by him. Maybe it was one of them.

What a great story and what a powerful woman Franca turned our to be. I'm glad that she got the opportunity to marry a good man and for love! I'm not also glad that she didn't fail pregnant to Fillippo which would certainly have meant that she must then marry her rapist! Im glad that she eventually became "Nonna" and I hope that she still lives happily with her Guiseppe! And I'm REALLY glad that Filippo got the treatment he VERY much deserved!

I cried at the end when she was awarded that honor by Italy ❤ oh and Giuseppe??! A total keeper! Franca's parents were amazing and i hope they and her brother Mariano had good lives afterwards.

You've heard of Google. Yes, he had financial problems and some speculate that he disappeared on purpose. He has since been assumed to have drowned during a fishing trip off of San Pedro. He left behind a 13 yr old son who was eventually given $100, 000 as the beneficiary of his father's life insurance. All of his personal belongings - wallet, keys, etc. were left in the boating office and his car was parked at dock.

this is the 2nd ep of casefile i can't listen to because the narrator has clearly decided he absolutely loves pronouncing a certain name so says it non stop is an accent that's not his. It's so annoying lol. Just say it in your regular voice please, there's no need to put on an Italian accent for Filippo, everyone understands it.
