wow, the jury weren't the brightest bunch if they were confused by the footprint evidence...! Thanks for this, it happened near where I live. A young man disappeared walking home at night near our place about sixty yr ago...search parties couldn't find him. Five years later he was found, his leg broken; he literally fell off the edge of the mountain ridge the farms are set on the top of. The vegetation goes a sheer drop down, very very dense, like a jungle.

What is wrong with juries? Why are there so many cases where the killer is practicaly wearing a shirt saying, "I murdered [victims]" and the jury is like, "Hmmm, well, we weren't there, so I guess we don't know."

One line stopped me: What has being a fisherman make one know about footprints? This idea from the detective. ?? This is a terrible story because two young girls were brutally murdered, and the killer was free. I would assume dead by now. But I was alive then....

I agree it is terrible the killer got away with it. I think fishermen may be particularly familiar with footprints because they regularly walk across sand, at rivers edge, sea edge, lots of footprints where it is damp or wet.

This guy sounds like he smoked a huge joint. How could the jury did not have another chance to try him. There had to be some other evidence. Tragic the girls mom had no justice for her girls.
