@VWJawbreaker4 ай бұрын
Awesome, good luck on your build!! Honestly, there’s no replacement for displacement. Go with the larger pistons and larger crank. You can build a larger engine that’ll still be reliable and fuel efficient if that’s what you want. Mild cam, mild compression, good heads and you’ll be in good shape.

Im happier with stock cam and 1.4 rockers, than with the w110. I dont usually rev past 5500, and with almost same lift at the Valve, the 1.4 produces torque really good at regimes wich an aire cooled VW was intended to be used. And a TON of Fuel economy! Maybe overlap could affect more than what I used to believe...
@VWJawbreaker4 ай бұрын
With the w110 cam having more duration, keeping the valves open longer, will produce more power vs just lift alone. However…. Stock cam with stock rockers vs stock cam and 1.4 rockers, that’s a no brainer. That being said, everyone has a preference and there’s really no wrong answer. Maybe some not so great combos but that’s a different thing.

Just got my 2332cc engine built from a builder but he wasn’t able to start and do initial break in due to surgery and will be down for a while. But I got the motor and have no ideal what I need to do to break in. Any advice?
@VWJawbreaker4 ай бұрын
Man that stinks, hope the guy is ok. Yes, you’ll need to do a cam break in. Either in or out of the VW depending on your setup or local guys that could help. Basically start it up and let it run for 20 minutes at 2500rpms. Don’t worry about the timing or carbs being perfect. Personally, I think the builder should do the break in Incase there’s any issues he can be the one to resolve them and if any future issues arise he knows the break in was done properly. Just my opinion.
