It's interesting that you suggest the fine line between a bad trip and psychosis. I had a very strong bad trip, lasted about 6 hours, hallucinations in broad daylight and auditory hallucinations. I wassafe enough, sat in a mates car at an outdoor illegal festival. I wonder if the only real difference was that I knew what was happening probably wasn't real or at least how I perceived things wasn't real. I can remember the feeling quite clearly and it's interesting to know that could be similar to what people suffering from pychosis experience.i

I was also in a ward for psychosis but what I realized it’s basically a jail. Nothing like a rehabilitation program. They need more strategic ways to cure mental illness. The food I was getting fed was crap. Microwaveable food with little to no nutritional value like vitamins and minerals that the human brain and body need to function properly.

My son had drug induced psychosis due to being spiked with ketamine. It literally happened overnight and was awful, but not violent. He also had undiagnosed bipolar disorder (he was in a manic phase at the time) and mild learning difficulties and ASD. It took a couple of days but he was eventually hospitalised and medicated. We are very close and I was his anchor to reality. It has taken 2 years to really have him back, but it was an awful experience for the whole family. Medication has really helped.

A friend of mine was assaulted by a young man she was with after he abused amphetamine salts and alcohol. He woke up from a dead sleep and was insane. She couldn’t fight him off. He eventually passed out and collapsed. He had zero memory of it. At first she wasn’t going to report it, but he didn’t seem to grasp how serious it was, (she thought she was going to die), and she reported it to the police. Charges were filed and he spent some time in jail and had to pay restitution. He was considered responsible because he abused the drugs even though he was clearly psychotic and had no memory.

Thanks for the info. Im goin through severe psychosis from long term crack use. Over a decade of drug use from weed, heroin, coke.. and the crack. Its ruining my life. Its been a year, ive been on antiphsycotics but i OD'd from the olanzopine bc im also on meth, vallium.. ect. So combating this is proving so hard and even when im sober theres triggers! Its like my body is reacting to fear but i physically cant see the threat. After a bad episode i know im obviously loosing my mind and its not real but at the time i cant help but truly belive that everyone is against me and plotting against me. I feel so so stupid at time and im a recluse bc of it. No1 can come in and goin out is a mission to me. I just feeli im goin in circles, i sought after over 10 years ago and im still here ... i know i must put my part into it... this is just some other level shit anxiety is an understatement

Let me say this. I was diagnosed with drug induced psychosis after taking cannabis and experimenting with lsd. I was never the same after. I would get paranoia from smoking weed. I was lazy, had no motivation for life. After 2 years I began working out again then turned to be a daily thing. I started eating better introducing more omega 3 fatty acids, and more vitamin rich foods. Trying my best to get 7-9 hours of sleep. With all those changes I felt great again my focus, mood, my memory was way better. I was reluctant but I started smoking weed again and I was actually able to enjoy it. I would eat almonds and other magnesium rich foods and would feel at ease. Food malnutrition, bad habits, poor sleep, lack of exercise are all the causes of mental illness!! The medication I stopped taking after 3 months because it’s a lie all it does is mask the symptoms but doesn’t help at all!!

I was given an IV antibiotic while severely ill and hospitalized a couple of years ago. I am in the USA, the name of the medication was levaquin. Apparently, I had a rare reaction to it, which caused psychosis. I started feeling very strange, and the last thing I can recall for a period of seven hours were the flowers coming out of a painting to chase me. I remember being absolutely terrified and thinking "something's wrong, I need to get help" and leaving my bed. The next day the nurses explained that for seven hours I was roaming the halls, hallucinating, having conversations with people who weren't there, while they infused saline in my IV to try to flush out the medication. They were advised not to try to confine me. Quite an experience, I never want to go through that again.

Just suffered from terrible terrible weed induced phycosis. I am 15 years of age,i was heavy on the carts and bud for about a year. Non stop with it was high 24/7 stoned off any weed i could find around. Eventually it drove me to start getting signs of phycosis but i had no clue why i was feeling these things and what was causing it, because i as a naive 14 year old child just looking to fill a void you would never guess that weed the “safest drug” could every cause anything close to this. What ended up happening was i ended up smoking more and more because when you are in phycosis and addicted to weed the addicted voice in your head says you need more weed and that it is the solution. Until it drove me into a full state of weed induced phycosis and i started researching and figured it out finally. I am 4 days sober from weed and I have never felt more like myself again. Almost reborn i don’t even care about the marijuana withdrawals because of how bad the phycosis was and how relieved it feels to finally be out of that satanic terrible DEVILISH state. I wouldn’t wish this on my WORST Enemies in LIFE. This is a serious problem and it needs to be spread everywhere!!! Save us youth!

I'm sorry for asking as I realise I'm basically trying to get free help ( worth a try).....I won't be disappointed if you can't help. How often would you say there are misdiagnosed patients who are, say, having hallucinations or some such that they later found out were neurological disorders? I ask because I was put on antipsychotics as a pre teen and they later realized I was having Seizures after having my first seizure in years.

Weed triggers psychosis and makes it worse. So if they are trying to manage their symptoms that way it won't work. But I am trying to see how much incidence there is of induced psychosis, with a low or medium dose psychedelic, with someone not using drugs, prescriptions, pot, or alcohol (because alcohol decreases magnesium and low mag can trigger depression or psychosis from a glutamate storm, frontal cortex has raised glutamate levels on psychs, but its lowered in hte hippocampus where the storms tend to happen)

I don't know if this will help but, strap in. So I'm in my 30ties, never took weed until a year ago, I got secondhand high a lot but that's not the same thing. Anyhu! I ate a weed cookie and at first, yep, cool, had the giggles. But after that I had a low blood sugar attack, I could not move and was afraid to open my eyes. I had chocolate, it helped a tiny bit, maybe, I was going through what felt like mental torture so don't remember. That was fine, if that's where it ended. I was then shouting for an ambulance and my friends got me one. All very dramatic, but, I couldn't physically walk, my arms were dead and I felt like people were injecting me with stuff when they weren't because I was getting pins and needles down my arms, but kinda worse than that. Got to the hospital, I literally started hallucinating my GP was in the emergency room, however the doctor in the emergency room really did look like my GP so I had to keep snapping myself out of that. But then I stopped being able to form sentences, I'd forget what I was saying halfway through a sentence and try get back to making sense but I couldn't and I was aware what I was saying sounded like complete gobbledygook but no matter how much I tried I just couldn't make sense. It was extremely scary, I thought I was going to be in a psych ward for the rest of my life forgetting what I was talking about halfway through every sentence. I woke up the next day and I was okay, back to normal, they checked me over, said I should stay the night just incase but I signed myself out of the hospital and got the hell outta there. The end.

I’m confused bc what if you experience these types of symptoms w/o dugs. But also if you take drugs you also experience these symtoms. At that point, do you blame the drugs? If someone took the drugs to ‘help’ but it only exacerbated the symptoms, but professionals just look at the drug component , then what ? And why would this happen outside of drug use? How does the brain get so messed up?

I can't help but feel if you take drugs it's your own damn fault if you develop psychosis and cause problems. Maybe there should be something that 16-year-olds sign in school that says if you take drugs your insurance won't cover your possible treatment costs for the consequences.
@Rebecca-GLaines

Lol. That won't help. It's beaten in everyone's head at some point that drugs are bad. The problem is, Noone thinks it will happen to them. They will be "the exception". So to tell someone "hey, if you do drugs and commit a crime, that's on you!" Won't work. People don't think they're capable of doing these things, however, the effects of the drugs completely cloud the brain. They cannot process their actions, let alone what happens after. A warning label doesn't work.

For example they would always say look at that dude he doing his drugs again look how high he gets look! look! look! ( they were talking amongst each other about me).. I'd hear them whistle at me I'd hear them bang on on something and would literally feel vibrations of the banging sound.. if I went into my closet to smoke I'd hear them walk right outside my window and yell sorta kinda "omg he's smoking drugs in his closet" ! When I would leave to buy drugs I would literally think the cars that turned when I turned were them following me. It's truly is scary to have those episodes. Even tho in my mind I knew it was impossible for someone to know exactly what I was doing at any time of the day/night. But it seemed and felt so freaking real
